Gay men are completely welcome here.

Consider this: a woman kisses another woman (e.g. Britney and Madonna), and it's celebrated as an expression of her sexuality, etc etc etc. However, the minute a man tries kissing another man, he's gay, no matter what. Bisexuality isn't an option for men. Women kissing women is more socially accepted than men kissing men (e.g. Adam Lambert at the AMA's).

Like I said. Gay men are completely welcome here.

Gay men are men, too. And as a gay guy, I love this subreddit and contribute occasionally.

Men's Rights and Feminism aren't mutually exclusive, you can be for the rights of both. MR is just often flagged as an attack on women without listening to the information, which just wants there to be complete equity for men and women alike. Custody, Prison Sentencing, Selective Service, Pay, you name it and it should be completely equal.

Gay men in the men's rights movement? At the very least, they bring a different viewpoint. In some cases I suspect that they will take the lead role in solving some problems.

As for the role of gay men in feminism? Couldn't say.

Homosexual men are men and, as such, are affected by many men's rights issues whether they like it or not. In any case, there really isn't any way anyone can actually discriminate against people who want to participate in activism for men's rights either; whether they agree or disagree with views shared by men's rights activism is up to the individuals themselves.

Looking at feminism as a movement and its underlying history of resentment and hate towards heterosexual men; it seems as though the entire association between feminism and LGBT activism stemmed from a somewhat misguided attitude of "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" to further hurt/exclude heterosexual men; also further propagating the "us vs them" mentality and gaining them greater/mainstream political power in greater numbers.

I think the problem is that most of the activism being done by men's rights now is simply just addressing subjects that affect men in general, not gay men specifically, and, as such, aren't really specialized in dealing with LBGT issues(it is a relatively young movement, feminism has quite the head start). Although feminism as a movement does seem to have an apparent "monopoly" on LBGT issues/support, I don't think men's rights activism and LBGT activism are necessarily mutually exclusive. Personally, I would definitely like to see more over-lapping between the two.

I should hope not. But ask the gays if they are, not us.

Are they wanted as a possible ally?

We need all the allies we can get.

I'm all for gay rights, but that doesn't mean just gay men. So it's not just a men's issue.

I don't view feminism as antithetical to men's rights so I don't think that a gay man (or any man or person) who supports feminism would be seen as an enemy.

I think you can divide the men's rights movement loosely into two camps: progressive and reactionary.

The progressive camp is a sort of mirror of feminism: they want equality, and would likely support gay rights as part of that mission.

The reactionary camp wants a return to pre-feminist gender roles, and would probably oppose gay rights on similar grounds.

Thankfully, most MRA's I've seen round these parts seem to lean progressive.

Gay men have had to hide under the shadow of scrutiny. They are men!!! It's the men that have been putting girly labels on gay men. Once they get their basic deserved rights, they'll be standing right next to every other man fighting the good fight.

I think you should ask the women if they see lesbians as allies of feminist movements. I'm guessing the answer is yes, because being gay doesn't make your penis or vag or hormones disappear.

Men have the right to choose their partners ad their lifestyles for themselves, so long as it's not illegal (besides the stupid gay marriage ban), not adulterous, and not harmful to children.

Sometimes I curse effeminate men (knowing, but not explicitly stating that effeminacy != homosexual) in general or "some" effeminate men, with the accusation that they are kowtowing to women, but there are men - gay and straight - who try to do that and play "macho" or "strong man" at the same time.

Gay men can certainly be allies, so long as they're not sending us out to 'be better men by respecting women better' or some other stupid nonsense.

THE Lambert Incident comes to mind; lesbian sexuality is okay, bit male homosexual conduct raises an outrage. ABC censored it, but 10 years ago, they were playing a "Once and Again" episode where two - - - underage - - - lesbian characters kiss.

As we all know too well, effeminate gay men are liberal and bear macho rapists are conservative.

Liberals are generally also feminist so liberal effeminate gay men are probably feminist too.

BTW Bisexuals are obviously libertarians.
