Paedophile, 60, who identifies as female is jailed for 20 months for sex with a dog - Suspicion has arose within the public that some criminals are claiming to be transgender to escape harsher men's prisons (Article for example). One reasonable solution, improve the conditions of men's prisons.

Hillary Clinton referred to mostly male youths as "Super-predators" in 1996 and said we "need to bring them to heel" comparing young men to animals. The comment is fused with racial undertones.

Vererinarian wife circumcises her husband for her preference. Society frowns on men encouraging women to modify their body, but American's are permissive to extreme extents when it comes to women encouraging men to change theirs.

I've seen this study. That is not part of his uniform, I believe it was a part of the enemy uniform.

He’s wearing a French overcoat, guy is shown a French military cap, or Kepi. I’d say he was French.

[–]SodyPops17 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

That is absolutely not a french Kepi. Many world armies featured a Kepi, including Americans in the civil war. It was standard for that (approximate) time period. This is a french Kepi:

A lot of uniforms from the American Civil War to WWI were of French design. The hat in the photo and the video are the same French Army design (Might be Belgian but I doubt it). The overcoat looks like a French M1915 Greatcoat.

Hope this message finds you in good health and spirits.

Ok fair enough

Men are expected to be stoic and strong. It's important for society to realise that men are human too, and we can't go through things and remain unscathed.

[–]Lighthuro 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

We have to be strong, no matter what. Nobody will do if we don't. It's our "stations of the cross." We can refuse that but look around and tell me where we are going.

WWI was one of the first cases of massive number of accounts of PTSD.

People generally had no clue how to treat it. So tried all they could to find a cure.

Because of accounts like this video, we now are aware of what is PTSD or combat psychological trauma. And also we have such therapeutic strategies as CBP(Cognitive-Behavior Therapy), that are able pretty much to cure PTSD.

What’s worse is the fact the wives of these soldiers expected them to fulfill their duties as husbands after experiencing such trauma and terror whilst they spent the entire war doing manual labour slightly more extreme than what they would have been used to within their households

what’s happening in this video? is it similar to exposure therapy? or is that dude just being a massive dick?

[–]WeirdStrawberry1542 34 points35 points36 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

If you read up on how they experimentaly treated ww1 veterans who had shell shock/ptsd they used everything they could think of to try and treat these people and the methods they used imo were pretty archaic and detrimental but that was the case for almost any mental treatment back then

[–]The_Kids_Lying 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Mental health care was severely lacking at the time, in general, but we also can't really blame them for not knowing how to handle these cases. I have no doubt that survivors who fought in past wars came back with psychological trauma, but WWI was a whole different ball game. Never before had machine guns existed. Never before had several square miles had millions of tons of explosive raining down on it for days on end (the origin of the term "shellshock"), while the men cowered in holes and trenches. Never before had chemical warfare come into play. WWI was a massive mindfuck to anyone who experienced it.

Shameless plug for Dan Carlin's podcast, Hardcore History. His Blueprint for Armageddon series is fantastic, relying on primary sources, and really does a great job of depicting the horror those men experienced.

[–]WeirdStrawberry1542 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I agree with you we can't blame them for not knowing how to treat people with shell-shock but their studying of those people would eventually evolve into the treatments we have today for those conditions

[–]Inevitable_Capital40 16 points17 points18 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think its both, with an addition of this being a way to show future psychologists how PTSD looks IMO

[–]Clemicus 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's probably from this longer version: https://youtu.be/X-elmAeX_4U

If the rest of the footage is related. It looks like a hospital that treated solders suffering from shellshock and neurosis

[–]sleepyJoeBidet 11 points12 points13 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Why the hell would you do that ?

[–]SodyPops17 19 points20 points21 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Its part of some sort of documentation of the study. Its archaic but thats just how they used to study stuff. By doing it and watching the reaction.

No but you see this is a consequence of the patriarchy and toxic masculinity and women are really the victims here /s
