So, I have one guy friend on Facebook who is just convinced, because of the crazy radfems on tumblr and because of the sources he follows, that feminism is 100% man hating and seeking female supremacy. I just did a casual peek through Facebook pages claiming dedication to gender equality, scrolling through the last month or two's posts. The differences did not surprise me in the slightest.

The two most popular (by total likes) feminist pages on Facebook, Feminists for Life and Everyday Feminism, have very little but articles related to reproductive rights, moments in history that were groundbreaking in equality (like the sufferage movement, not times an evil man lost), organizations that help women, and positive messages for their followers. They are both fairly active pages, with all posts showing plenty of likes and comments. There are no posts demonizing men in any way from the last several months, and I checked the top comments as well. There are no searchable anti-men or anti-MRM (men's rights movement) pages on Facebook, so either they don't exist or they are private; regardless, they're not offering their opinions to be public on Facebook as a "movement" if they are out there.

The two most followed MRM pages- Men's Rights Association and The Men's Rights Initiative are very different. Men's Rights Association seems to be mostly links to articles where inequality is being addressed legally, but there is almost no activity on the page in the form of likes or comments, despite it's over 5k followers. The Men's Rights Initiative has over 10k followers and is a solid wall of mocking feminism, with much more activity. The Men's Rights Activism page, which has only a few fewer followers than Men's Rights Association, is nothing but straw men making fun of not just feminists, but women in general, with insulting memes and things that don't even come from feminists; it's weird, you would think that if feminists were defending a female criminal and that's what your point was, you would post where they did that instead of the general news article about the crime. You would think, if feminism were so bad, they wouldn't have to make things up to make fun of, but apparently...

Then, there's Exposing Feminism, the most followed page of the type with almost 15k followers. It's a fun bunch of cherry-picked ugliness, totally reactionary (and reacting to things that aren't even real), some of it from 50 years ago (only, women are supposed to quit talking about the past, aren't we? Weren't we the ones that are hanging onto outdated slights against us?), and surprisingly enough- none of it deals with feminism, at all. I mean, there are no posts that relate to any recognized feminist organizations in the last several months, and I honestly doubt there ever was. The only reposts come from things like personal blogs and YouTube. It's funny how nearly the only people who are coming down hard on either side of the issue on those pages are minors (and we all were dumb teenagers, whether we remember it that way or not), or those who stand to gain YouTube fame...

The only one of those pages that has anything that actually relates to men's rights and doing anything for men is the one with almost no activity. I feel like I have pretty well established the true Facebook presence of each movement, and it is painfully obvious where the hate, assumptions, and blame are being laid and who is playing the victim- surprise, surprise, it isn't women, or feminists.
