Here's my take on why "anti-feminist" movement won't take off.

Feminism that most people associate with is the movement that achieved women's suffrage, liberated women from the traditional gender roles, promoted awareness of violence against women, etc. - things that are considered to be positive aspects of modern, civilized, first-world society.

[Disclaimer: I'm not all too familiar with MRA so feel free to correct me] To my knowledge, MRA isn't against what I've listed above and shouldn't be since wanting equal right, opportunity and treatment for women doesn't impinge on men's right. The kind of feminist that MRA is against is the subgroup of feminists who promote women's "rights" even if it means women's rights trump over men's rights.

So then why call it anti-feminist? I mean sure it sounds better than anti-SJW-warriors-who-took-gender-studies-101 but MRA is grouping entire feminism movement as wrong and impinging on men's right. So of course people are not going to have a positive reaction to MRA, coupled with quite a bit of misogyny in TRP, MRA and so called manosphere.

You MRA guys just aren't selling it right.

this is becuase your average 'nice' feminsit doesn't matter. they aren't in power, doing bullshit research, making sexist laws and policy, taking over hr dept, engaging in judicial activism, shutting down various reform bills, or in media

we really dont like each other at all. our goals are at cross purposes. trp (broadly) speaking want to go back to traditionalist world the mrm want legal and social change which includes evolving the male gender role and fight the man hate coming from lot feminist quarters even if they dont realize their man hate.

I'm aware that MRM and TRP are different. But I bet you most people who aren't familiar with either will put them in the same misogyny category and reasonably so.

its mostly due to lazy reporting, journalist cant be bother to actually research. remember that mad max controversy? that was a trwep that goes by the aaron cleary. he writes for rok a rp web site that is anti mra but he was cited as an mra. but when the media finds some thing they dont like (typically RP) they blame mras. mras which typically take the brunt of mediA criticism AND are the red headed step child of the manosphere take the media beating even when its not us making the statements. the most widely cited example of this is elliot rodgers. it has been thoroughly debunked but they keep bringing it up.

I still stand by my opinion that you guys could be selling it better.

Oh, hah, I do remember the shirt storm. I'm sorta amused by the shirt because it's so 80s and cheesy but he shouldn't have worn it in a professional setting. No, he definitely didn't deserve all the shit storm he got. Internet mob mentality is bad.

I think it imperative that you make it known that you are against the radical feminists/misandrists, separate from the relatively positively associated feminism which encompasses the good (and the bad). MRA still has yet to shed the image of bitter divorced women haters and for them to spearhead anti-feminist movement.. Yeah it just doesn't have good association to general public.

If I were MRA, I'd label the radical/misandrist 1. not feminist 2. descriptive enough to infer they are the wrong party 3. without belittling them. Then say MRA is anti-"newlabel."

I do not see it that way at all. "End violence against women" is actually as shockingly sexist in it's exclusion of men as "black lives matter" is shockingly racist in its exclusion of other races. This is why you are seeing people writing "black lives matter" on their hands, then crossing out "black" and replacing it with "all".

End violence aginst women is and BLM isn't and heres why.

police brutality against blacks relative to their population is disproportionate when you compare against other racial groups.

end violence against women is sexist because relative to there population women suffer less violence than men relative to the size of there population so if you are going to be against anything it should be against violence against men.

So by saying end violence against every one it actually conceding too much ground but has better messaging.

the reason and maybe you dont see this B/c you are probably middles class, but cops are assholes to poor people B/c your average cop is bully trust me i do security i know cops. i know how cops really are. your average cop is criminal scum with a badge. if i relayed half the shit cops do people would be lynching cops. some dept in rural areas are ok but the cops in the country tend to develope bias because they get to know people. but your average city cop is a thug. i know ex nypd, i know how they hire. hint the nypd only ever gets the shit tier candidates, all the truly good cops in ny are staties because they have standards. blacks tend to be disproportionately poor and live in cities where the cops are disproportionately pieces of shit. also this ties in to numerous other areas like poor communities typically only having one viable method to make decent money (hint it aint fast food).

but saying its 'black culture' teaching kids to fear or distrust cops is at best ignorant at worst racist.

That's great if true. But what created the political climate? Things like "black lives matter."

Nah, #BLM is the spikes on the tail. This animal's head is Al Sharpton. Or Jesse Jackson. Maybe it has two heads.

As far back as Rodney King (the first major incident I'm old enough to remember), it has become more and more acceptable, common, and encouraged to take any racial grievance to the media. And the burden of proof on the accuser has become lighter and lighter. Those are good things.

It's no longer necessary that it be on video. But it's more likely that they will be. It's no longer necessary to have overwhelming evidence just to trigger an investigation. And it's more likely that such an investigation will at least result in the offending officer being reassigned to a desk.

Yes, we have more cameras now, but do you really think they're capturing every single evidence of police misconduct? NYPD used to do thousands of "stop and frisk" stops every year. How many of those were caught on camera?

"Used to do." Pretty important phrase. They don't anymore, do they? And as they roll out body cameras, anyone who does will be caught on camera.

In a nation of 320 million people, these incidents are few and far between, relative to the population. I'm obviously not saying they don't matter, I'm saying it's not an "epidemic".

They see extremism and think that's what feminism is and try to distance themselves from it.

Feminism is radical. If the only unsavory ones were folks like Solanas and Dworkin, one could ignore them and move on. But the rot reaches far into the mainstream thought within feminism.

These aren't fringe figures, these are either prominent members or average rank-and-file-feminists representative for significant sub-groups within the movement.
