Hello all! I’m seeking advice on making nun-mode as useful as possible.

I ended things with the guy I was dating (he turned out to be a great guy, just not the right fit), and now am planning on going nun-mode for approximately the next two years, and I’ll explain my reasons for doing so.

First and foremost, I’m planning on joining the military. This means I’ll spend the next year preparing and training and while I could date during that time, in the next year I’ll be spending 3 months with no phone access (basic), and 6 months after that with very minimal free time (secondary training, pretty much). This is not conducive to dating, and I can’t imagine that a military future would appeal to many men.

Note: I am NOT looking for any feedback on this decision; I’ve spent a lot of time carefully considering my options, and for a variety of reasons this is what I feel is the best choice for me. I do plan on only four years, so I’m hoping to date in the latter 2 years of my enlistment.

Secondly, I need to improve my choice in men. My first boyfriend was not good to me, and although my second boyfriend treated me very well, he didn’t exactly seem like a good choice on paper. I find myself drawn to guys that I know would not be a good fit for me long-term, so I need to figure out why that is (for example, I’m liberal and am drawn towards very conservative men for some reason)

Third, I had significant anxiety in both of my relationships, and I want to figure out why and how I can fix that.

Goals:

Invest time in journaling and evaluating my taste in men, to hopefully improve so I can pick men better aligned with my values (any advice/resources would be great!)

Learn about relationship anxiety and identify my areas of insecurity (any book recs?)

Get better at doing makeup and hair (nun mode, why not?)

Any resources, or suggestions on goals to add would be wonderful, thank you! I’m 21 and will be 23 when I plan on exiting nun mode, which I feel is young enough that I’m not worried. Thank you all for your time!
