You can stand up for yourself without being a bitch. Kindness and self respect are not mutually exclusive. I'm kind and respectful to my husband, but that doesn't mean he gets to steamroll me.

Our culture often implies the low maintenance woman or chill girlfriend is ideal. Nothing could be further from the truth. Having needs is not "needy" - not only are you allowed to ask for what you want, it actually gives you value in his eyes.

If you don't give a man opportunities to take care of you and then bask in your gratitude, the relationship will not be nearly as fulfilling for him. One of the most wonderful feelings for a man is that he is wanted, needed, and appreciated for his masculine qualities.

If you're giving inappropriately, too much too soon, you also rob him of another treasure: the feeling he has gotten something from you that isn't freely given to others. "Winning the chase". This applies to far more than sex! Don't be doing his chores on your fourth date and going overboard to show you're a special unicorn.

Have you read Why Men Love Bitches ? There are similar aspects to this post, in a sense I agree that a GF/wife shouldn’t be a doormat - but more generally, there is great pleasure to be found in ‘serving’ your man: so long as you do it for both of your happiness and not to simply be accepted and validated by him. Agree to an extent 😉

I think there's a difference between a "nice" woman and a doormat. Nothing wrong with being your own person and standing up for what you believe in but that doesn't mean you should be unnecessarily rude and mean to someone.

If a person doesn't treat you well and takes advantage of you, channel that powerful female energy that puts up with no shit! It's not unladylike, it's just called being a person with a backbone.

Spineless women and men get abused. Also, high quality people don't want to mate with spineless people. Even though, they don't exploit them.

I would never date a man, who mistreats people just because they aren't self-confident or too nice. There should be no trust or respect for people, who mistreat innocent people. (But all people deserve compassion.)

Nice people are never the ones who make your adrenaline rise and scream "adventure". But I think real pleasure between 2 people is built slowly with trust and effort. Fast pleasure is an illusion anyhow.

Well, I don't know. The thing I love the most about my girlfriend is she's the kindest person I know.

There's a difference between being nice and being passive (never asking for what you want) or a doormat (men getting away with bad behaviour). You can have a perfectly nice conversation with someone where you talk about something that happened and say how it made you feel. If your partner is a good one, they will care about it and talk about their perspective and together you can work things out.

When guys talk about girls, they favor the nice wayyyy more than the not. Ladies clearly favor assholes whether we think we do or not. So that should be a good thing when it comes your how guys see you, but we all pick assholes out of crowd for some reason.

i’d rather be kind and sweet than jaded and bitter, regardless of the consequences. however i think that being assertive in a protective way can be a very feminine trait! we’ve all seen the “mama bear” example- nurturing ourselves and others includes not being walked on!
