Interesting. It might not be the final word though.

How would they code one guy tweeting to another guy, "Katie is such a slut."

That would count as a male being abusing a female in my mind. But would it have ended up in the m->m category?

I don't think the information in this article is all that surprising to anyone who has existed in reality for the last while and pays attention. It's a shame the methodology is pretty flimsy though, their classification isn't very descriptive and potentially very prone to misclassification.

this doesn't surprise me. it might be related to the "hey! that's our word!" complex that seems to eventually circulate among groups that have been oppressed. it all depends on your surroundings i think. my ex always called his ex-wife a whore every chance he could (well she did cheat on him), but the more i got to know him the more i realized he was just as much a "whore" as his ex. but he's not all men, and i certainly don't look to him for my representative specimen - he was just an asshole. but then i know plenty of men who are just really nice guys and are respectful. i'm seeing that it might be the case that men are sometimes coerced into feeling guilt for all the other men who are jackasses, and that's not cool. i've never been a fan of double-standards, even if the double standard was in my favor.

and i used to be this bitter girl who had a chip on her shoulder but then i realized if i surrounded myself with better people, then that bitterness would kinda go away for the most part. (and it did)

I wonder if the study made any effort to differentiate by geographical culture. Cunt is a far more common term, and considered far less offensive in eupopean countries.

I could have read the article to find out, but just typing this is more waste of my time than the entire subject justifies.
