if patriarchy is a system designed to benefit all men at the cost of all women. how come women's health gets 4 times the funding of men's health? how come way more money is spent on women's shelters even when 90% of homeless people are men. karen straughan of the "girl writes what" video blog noted that studies have shown that not only do women live longer then men, they also found when to be more happy then men. when questioned about quality of life. apparently the oppressed class, women is living longer, healthier and happier lives then the so called oppressor class, men. and this is one of the bigger reasons I reject feminism.

Well, here are some possibilities.

1) Men receive less health care, because they deserve less life. This is the position we are implicitly imputing to those who support the status quo. No one would defend such a conclusion, and few even think this privately.

2) Men receive less health care due to the nature of their "death events." Men tend to die earlier, more suddenly, from more violent and less treatable causes, such as workplace accidents. Women tend to die older and in worse condition, from lingering maladies that can be very expensive to treat.

One might idealize that health care expenditures should be altered to promote an "equal-lifespan" outcome. But really, I don't think any amount of health-care dollars could make that happen.

Rather, if we want men to live longer, and women to accept their fair share of life responsibilities, we need to encourage men to participate in safer careers, such as teaching and nursing, and women to take more dangerous jobs, such as fishing, logging, driving, and construction.

I can see the benefit to spending a little more on women to promote better reproductive outcomes... This has tremendous benefits to members of both sexes to come from a healthy womb and to have been nursed by a healthy mother. Nutrition delivered in utero and during the first few months can have lasting impacts on the infant into adulthood (see studies on children of the Dutch famine during WW2 for evidence suggesting poor nutrition during fetal development relating to higher risks of adult obesity, diabetes).

BUT 4x the amount spent on men? That is a greater discrepancy than what I would think reproductive health bias would account for. Also, not intending to discount the need for men with healthy sperm.
