WTF is with the bizarre slant in this article? It isn't about having men take responsibility at all. It's about giving men the same freedoms women have.

I like how the article kept talking about men's lack of reproductive responsibility, while birth control like this would primarily give us more options and reduced risk of being tricked into concieving. Bring on the man pills!

It's interesting how that article still tries to play the "woman-as-victim" schtick even after basically acknowledging that men currently have almost zero reproductive power. You know, I've noticed this "monopoly" women have on discussions of reproductive rights. It just seems like the default mindset is that "reproductive rights" and "birth control" = women's rights issues. As if there's any rights women don't have. The male pill is a male issue and a male right, yet you can't discuss it without making some mention of women and portraying them as helpless victims who have to bear the burden of reproduction. Boohoo. /o

Not to burst your bubbles, however, but I wouldn't get your hopes up about this. The male pill has been "just around the corner" for about 10 years now. Once or twice a year some article gets published about how "researchers" are "on the verge" of finishing up the male pill, and all they need now is FDA approval. It never happens. The government makes too much money off the current system, and they know that if the male pill was ever made publicly available, and as cheap as the female pill, that America's birth rate would drop to nothing.

Maybe this one will be different. I sure hope so. It would be a step in the right direction, and may even be the initiatory event that gets the ball rolling towards Legal Paternal Surrender. If anything, teen pregnancy rates would probably drop a bit. The number of children born to unwed adult mothers would probably plummet.

PROBLEM: 3 out of 7 rats tested never recovered fertility.

SOLUTION: Freeze sperm beforehand. If you have the ingredients, being infertile is awesome!

I think that I'll just hold out for the RISUG trials than this other procedure. The Indian trials have proved it far more effective in both contraception and in reversal.

Just got into an argument on Facebook about this.

Apparently men shouldn't have their own pill because "men have enough power already" so they don't need control over their own fertility. "Condoms are just as effective as birth control" I was told. When I asked why women even bother with the pill then, the response was something along the lines of "not relying on someone else/leaving the choice in someone else's hands". Another revealing comment was "I won't replace my method with his!". I guess any positive gain for men is seen as a threat to or an attack upon women.

Also, apparently men having their own birth control pill would give them "power over women's bodies" and allow men to "dictate what women do with their bodies", and men "have enough power over women already".

The funny thing is, one person (a woman) joked that she liked to poke holes in condoms.
