Thanks for sharing Typhon. Thats really interesting. Are you familiar with the Sapir-Whorf hypothesis that a person's language influences the way they think? Im not a linguist but the idea is fascinating.

I think you may be being too hard on 2x. You should post it and see if they offer some input.

For one, not all languages have a structure that requires a certain order of words to convey a specific message. Greek, for example, has numerous moods/cases/declensions and is structure in a way where the word order is irrelevant.

Ascribing the wage cap to systemically holding back women? The wage gap is primarily driven by career choices. Even in a given career field women do not stay with a particular company for as long and often dial back their involvement because they choose to settle down and have a family. While a woman's intellectual ability may not be innate, a person's drive-or lackthereof-to have children is for the most part very innate.

I would disagree that people are necessarily typecast into moral agents and moral patients.

People either take charge of their lives and responsibility for their actions and become moral agents, or allow themselves to be moral patients.

Aww. So what this really means is "bright" girls really aren't bright after all.

No, women haven't been taught this, it is ingrained in their psyches. It has very little to do with outside forces. It is perhaps why women throughout history have contributed virtually nothing in comparison to men. After all, they have no need, being the reproductive vessel of the species. Even little girls instinctively understand that their value lies not in any supposed intelligence but primarily in their reproductive ability. If this weren't the case they would do what men do (seek out high-paying, dangerous positions to support their families) rather than doing what women do (take the easy way out, go to college for something they find amusing, then find a man and raise the kids).

Despite the flaws in the article, however, I up-voted, as it has value on the whole.
