Regardless that my wife is an Amazonian warrior that could pop me like a pimple if she wanted, who do you think gets the stinkeye when we go anywhere when she's wearing the black and blue and yellow eyeshadow?

I've had everything from old ladies coming up to us and asking if everything is ok to dudes shoving me to the ground at a shopping mall. For the latter incident, my wife of course further confused everyone's idiotic preconceptions by dropping said dudes to the floor with a single jab to the throat.

Anyway, I guess what I'm saying is that a black eye on a woman is a death sentence for her man, regardless of how she got it.

Reminds me of a time I was 12 and my dad drove me to the hospital with a broken finger. The real story was that I grew 6 inches that year and ended up being so clumsy I sat on it. The nurses were really suspicious, to say the least, especially after they asked how I got it.

But yeah, I actually never realized how common it is to assume that peoples' injuries come from abuse without knowing anything.

My wife got stopped by a security guard at the mall, who wanted to know if "she was OK or if she wanted him to call someone". She was confused as hell until she remembered she poked herself in the eye the other day and gave herself a very minor black eye.

Got to love those white knights!

Curiously enough, almost everybody there has a similar story.
What I like is how they all know the phenomenon yet only very few are able to say that it is sexism.
