For those unfamiliar with Arturo Gatti, the morning after he and his wife were seen fighting in a club near the Brazilian resort where they were staying, he is found to be dead, strangled by his wife's purse string. His wife cannot explain how she stayed in the room for 10 hours after he died. She denies any wrong doing. The Brazilian police first arrest her and suspect homicide but then rule it out and determine that it was in fact suicide (she is a Brazilian citizen). The Canadian government are currently conducting their own investigation (he was a Canadian citizen).

They are better than any movie with Mark Wahlberg. They were thrilling fights and the two fighters had enormous respect for each other.

It baffles my mind how an ex-boxer could let himself get battered by his wife. Suckerpunched? Seriously? Something must have happened that really took the fight out of him.

This is great. The media really are very good at making it look like they are doing a good job at reporting facts. I haven't heard anything about the circumstances of his death when I saw the story of his widow trying to get the money:

The story basically goes like this: guy gets contract to secure his assets, gets them notarized, gives a secret copy to his notary. Guy then comes to the notary with his wife, ripping up the contract to "show his love", the secret copy is still there and ripping up a contract doesn't mean it is void. Guy goes on vacation to Brazil, is the victim of a suspicious death. The will is read, and it says guy leaves everything to his wife, though people say it looks like he's been coerced.

Obviously rule of law, due process and the whole package, but doesn't this all look very, very suspicious to our simple minds?
