If you know children come from having sex and you don't wish to have one then isn't the obvious answer to just not have sex? This is a serious question.

Sure. And let's apply this principle to women. There should be no need for medical insurance to cover contraception for women because they can just not have sex. There should be no need for abortion because they can just not have sex, so let's get rid of that too. Are you down with that? If not, do not come here promoting a double standard.

As it stands, neither men nor women can seem to manage to just not have sex voluntarily. So accidents happen and unwanted pregnancies occur. Women can choose to avoid their responsibilities by having an abortion. So men should have a choice to avoid their responsibilities too.

Or do you think choices are just for women, and responsibilities just for men?

This is an extremely pointed and intentionally ambiguous question; it implies that "men on here" believe that they should never be financially responsible for a child which simply is not true. I have never read a post on /MR about men complaining that they should not have to pay for their children while in a stable relationship with the mother. Please rephrase your question to be more specific if it is indeed a serious question.

Let's get some balance here: 1. Why do feminists think they have the right to get pregnant and kill the unborn baby? 2. Why is a man obliged to support a child born after his semen was kept and used to impregnate herself by a woman who gave him a blow job? 3. Why do feminists think they have the sole right to abort or put the baby up for adoption or not and also think that the father who has not say in either of these matters must still be held responsible for financial support. The right to abortions has always been one of the mainstays of the feminist movement and it can be met with an almost identical question that you are posing: Why do women think they have the right to have sex but bear no responsibility for bringing babies conceived to full term?

There are many circumstances possible here. Where for example a woman has lied about taking contraceptives or has agreed not to take a pregnancy to term and then changes her mind, a man may well be justified in denying responsibility.

Most of the arguments here seem to be that women have ALL the rights and men have ALL the responsibilities. Most MRAs appear only to be arguing for some kind of reasonable balance.

However, I think you are wrong in suggesting that as a blanket statement men who post on this site refuse obligations towards children they have helped create. Much of the argumentation here is just the opposite; for men to have the right to play a full role in bringing up their own children.

Women could always have an abortion, morning after pill, or just the regular birth control pill. There are many ways of stopping a pregnancy, and unfortunately for men most of the possibilities are for women.

You can always say that women take a more active role in preventing pregnancies, but this isn't due to women being more responsible and men less responsible. This is due to the fact that men have less options and men have no options after sex. This is part of the problem.

Babies don't come from masturbation, babies come from sex between two people. No baby has ever been born after the father had sex and the mother didn't. Your advice works for women too. If they don't want babies, why don't they just stop having sex?

They both bear responsibility, but the woman took an active role in preventing the pregnancy while the male just shot his load into her.

This post shows perfectly the amount of respect you have for men. This is a generalisation and not a reply to a specific scenario. Is this what you think people are like? Women are responsible and men just squirt jizz everywhere?

You came in here with little respect, what did you expect? Someone suggests that men and women are both responsible and that your arguments apply to women too. You respond by saying that the person you are arguing with thinks women whose lives are endangered shouldn't have lifesaving abortions. This isn't debate. Don't pretend it is.

Since "Roe Vs Wade" the Supreme Court decided that reproductive choice is a matter of a "right to privacy", NOT SEX. What that means is that the SC has separated sex from childbirth. If Woman have the right to privacy, then so do men. Sex is not the same thing as procreating, there is volitional acts involved in having a child.

P.S. Yes, sperm donors have been forced to pay CS. Having children out of wedlock has become a entrepreneurial enterprise nowadays.

Women have the choice of having an abortion, and the choice of being a parent or not. A man is told to act according to the woman's choice. If he didn't want to be a parent and she does, too bad for him. If he wanted to raise the child and she aborts, too bad for him.

Women do not have to consent to parenthood when they have sex, but men are supposed to do exactly that if the situation arises. The woman has choices, the man does not.
