there is a disturbing overlap between our movement and the right-wing, borderline supremacist 'quiverful' movement. It makes me wonder, sometimes if we are correct in standing up for our rights like this.

You seem to essentially argue that "because A likes B, B must be distasteful" (perhaps not "must" but "probably is"), which is silly.

True enough, the shared goals don't necessarily make them allies since the goals which don't overlap might be incompatible.

I wonder if that is how people view us from the outside...

No need to wonder. Getting chucked into the same corner as "back to the kitchen" ultra-conservatives is not unheard of. Also, "loser", "just can't get laid", "you just hate women", "tiny dick", "whiner"… shaming is a fairly common counter tactic, which is why the first job is convincing people that there is a genuine problem.

Either way, we are correct in standing up for our rights. Whether "like this" is the best way time will tell.

I said that an article about the discrimination white people face was good. The portions of the article I read were not "pro-white supremacist" whether or not the article was written by a white supremacist. They were anti-white discrimination and abuse.

FingerOfDeath and AnnArchist contribute plenty of good material to this reddit. I'm not familiar with Godspiral.

I think you're mistaking anti-feminists with trolls. And anti-feminism is essential for any progress to be made for men's rights.

A lot of feminists and misandrists label themselves "men's rights advocates" and post here. They are the true trolls you should be worried about. For example, cryptogirl, atomicparrot, catlebrity, and Mitchellonfire. They are all banned from MensRightsLinks because we do not accept misandry. Perhaps you can find solidarity with them, iruserz?

The only positive thing I can say about this article is that it exposes very usefully a hateful similacrum of men's rights that should be opposed at every step. The level of transphobia in this piece is breathtaking:

One thing is certain. Raewyn Connell’s view of masculinity is not a product of scholarly pursuit, but of mental illness; a pathological hatred of a particular sex, in this case male.

The only pathological hatred here is Paul Elam's pathological hatred of trans people. Notice that he doesn't cite Connell's work to make his assertion, the simple fact that she has "had his penis cut off" (a medically inaccurate and deeply transphobic gloss for Sex Reassignment Surgery) is enough to discredit her scholarship on gender. In reality, Elam only discredits his own work with this kind of bigotry.

Men's rights and LGBT rights are intimately linked. Not only through the struggle for gender equality, but also through the fight for less-talked-about gender freedoms: the rights to fuck who you want, love who you want, and be who you want.

A men's rights movement that attacks it's opponents for their gender identity can never truly be a movement for gender liberation. Thankfully, I think most folks on r/mensrights get that.

Is that "trans rage?" Well . . . maybe.

yeh it is. you are taking it literally. but even if you did so, it's a statement of the form: "this interminable suffering caused by liars/murderers has to be punished, if ignored by authorities, then by vigilantism". not really a tasteful sentiment, but it would be accurate in some applications. if people said cops had to die because they are getting away with murdering citizens, then if authorities are turning a blind eye, it's almost a reasonable proposition

in the particular case you mention, i would not support that. For one, it seems like overkill ...lol...,but you and everyone else have to agree: something has to be done to protect men against false rape accusations that ruin them. Currently governments are doing nothing. So what recourse is there? having said that, the comment could have been simply an angry one without any intent...you can't judge that, but you have and are "scared" by the anger (in which case, then help solve the problem)
