I find it hilarious how now that women are forced to compete for men on mens terms, it's not only unjust but they are also paying a social price and are being victimized for it.

I sometimes wonder if in 20-30 years from now a majority of western men will either stop marrying or will marry foreign women, thus pissing off (and victimizing) western women even more.

This is a funny and interesting outcome but I wish the author didn't have such a bitter battle-of-the-sexes tone about it. This is change for the better. Women should take up the role as the persuer more often; it's only natural for them to be a little confused. I'm still confused about how dating and relationships work.

Lots of feminist trolls on this thread insisting that this outcome is just fine. They seem to think men are overreacting to it. The fact is, the article went out of its way to present women as the victims of this trend. Our reaction is that even when women come out on top they are still vicimized. The most progressives say that women are victims in every sphere of life, the more absurd it sounds.

And talking about victims, we haven't even mentioned the young men who are staying away from college in droves -- because they are young men. Who's the real victim here.

I have noticed this over the past ten years or so: Younger women do not expect men to be as well educated as they are. When I manage to actually make an educated point, or god forbid, win an argument they look at me as if I was a dog that managed to do algebra.

Sometimes they even look scared, as if they are thinking "oh great, a potential rapist that might be smarter than me".

I swear Im gonna create a school for men only. This imbalance shit has got to stop.

WTF, they're complaining about 55%? It was 70-30 the other way when I started at RIT, and much worse in my major. Though I understand the imbalance of power that comes with an unbalanced ratio (a lot of men are totally whipped here), a 10% difference is negligible.

I'm hoping that in a couple years when the roles of men and women switch, that the public will finally realise that programs to benfit specific demographcis (based on age, race, sex, etc) is a bad idea.

If discrimination really is illegal, then woman only scholarships sould be illegal. Schools need to accept students based on merit, not on the need to avoid lawsuits for not having enough _____ in their school.

Women have represented about 57 percent of enrollments at American colleges since at least 2000, according to a recent report by the American Council on Education. Researchers there cite several reasons: women tend to have higher grades; men tend to drop out in disproportionate numbers; and female enrollment skews higher among older students, low-income students, and black and Hispanic students.

Is that sexism?

Second, isn't the smarter approach not to mock women as alleged self-perceived victims, but instead point out how gender disparities in university enrollment negatively impact people of both genders? You don't really want this to be "us v. them," do you?

All the article is saying is that since women outnumber men on campus, men have a bit of an edge romantically.

Women on gender-imbalanced campuses are paying a social price for success and, to a degree, are being victimized by men precisely because they have outperformed them, Professor Campbell said. In this way, some colleges mirror retirement communities, where women often find that the reward for outliving their husbands is competing with other widows for the attentions of the few surviving bachelors.

(The blog quotes this, but cuts off the bit about retirement communities.)

wtf?

As a women I think it is pretty understandable. Because I'm not built like a truck I need a degree. getting a job doing manual labor (which can pay well) just doesn't work out. Seems reasonable, who could get a victim complex out of that?
