The Shameless Bigotry at /r/women

As one of the mods of the subreddit in question, I'd like to clarify this for those who may be interested in hearing the other side. This was not due to some political difference, and it was not the reasonable viewpoint spartaa would like you to think.

He made a dig at "nasty roast beef vaginas" and suggested they all need to be trimmed (surgically, I must assume, as that was the topic of the article in question) and bleached. Oh, and anuses as well. And just as I'm sure none of the gentlemen here would care to have someone come in and suggest that their penises are nasty if they're not circumcised, well, likewise, we're not really appreciative of the suggestion that the vulva in its natural state is in need of cosmetic surgery intervention.

Of course, we don't ban people for single comments, but we have a bit of a pattern from this user, and that really was way over the line. I understand if some of you disagree with our policy, and that's fine, of course. We're just trying to make a pleasant community for our readers, and naturally, their comfort comes first for us. Thanks for hearing me out, and y'all have a wonderful day, really.

anyway, reddits are like little fiefdoms. The mods can do what they want. /r/women is no different than any other subreddit. There are a ton of little napoleons out there.

I'd consider it a challenge. The internet is just one variation on human discourse. here, you see people behave with fewer restraints than in a face-to-face setting.

had you made the remarks you made to this person at a cocktail party, would she have turned and walked away? Would she say "come on girls, let's ignore him!" would she have, in some other way, publicly embarassed you? more likley she would have found a more diplomatic way to make her point that she doesn't agree with you.

At the same time maybe you would have pulled some punches of your own, and maybe you would have been more polite or gentle or careful with your remarks in a face-to-face meeting.

regardless you can see what people really think. At least one person really disagreed with whatever you said. And you can bet there are more like her. if you ever hope to convince someone like that, you'll have to be more politic about it. BE a little more savvy with your persuasive capabilities.

This is the same lesson I took from the recent Double-X article and the wave of articles about men's rights groups becoming "frighteningly effective." The fear and bias in all the feminist press was laid bare. Now at least we know what we are up against.

when men ask for equal custody, feminist alarmists hear "I want to beat my children in private"
when men point out inequities in criminal sentencing, feminist alarmists hear "Rape is a fake crime."
when men ask for a standard of evidence in family courts before custody is taken away, feminist alarmists hear "Domestic violence is a myth."

It will take, collectively, a thick skin and a lot of patience in order to move the tide of opinion to eliminate bias.

I agree, "/r/women" is obnoxiously sensitive and ready to ban people at the drop of the hat, but a hate crime? this is why I hate hate crime laws.

While I do not know any moderators here or this particular situation it has been my personal experience on other sites that female moderators abuse their authority when they disagree with an opinion. Personally I think women are far more sexist than men ever were or ever thought of being.
