I had high hopes for the sub, but all the feminists got scared of actually having to defend their opinions against people disagreeing with them, and fled to safer waters where everyone who disagrees is banned. They like the comfort of their echo chambers too much I guess.

So now it's pretty much male advocates wanting to have a good conversation, posting things where feminism is failing and how it can be improved, and feminists attacking the male advocates because what they say doesn't conform to feminist dogma.

For Feminism uncensored to actually succeed, they need more feminists there to post feminist articles and actually engage in critical discussion with everyone else.

That's the part that is most lacking with feminism, the "engaging in critical discussion" part. They prefer to do that in subs where they can censor and ban people for wrongthink apparently.

It's basically like religious dogma, there are dogmatic assertions that cannot be criticized or questioned in any way shape or form, and if you do you must be banned or silenced to protect the rest of the flock from your heathen ideas.

I started thinking about it as a joke, from when I was having fun talking to creationists and religious nuts, but the more I dive into the whole feminism discussion think, the more it rings true. The people who are most willing to actually dive deep into these kinds of questions about gender are not feminists, and the more ardently one identifies as a feminist the least likely they are to dive into the topics, preferring to drink the kool-aid instead and just flat-out telling men that they're wrong about their own lived experiences, er even having basic empathy for men.

Aaah interesting, I might have to read about it. There's a similar kind of idea in psychology about a thought that, once it enters the brain, basically stops all further thinking. It's called the thought-terminating cliché, semantic stop-sign, or thought-stopper. You'd think this would be science fiction but it's not, it's an idea drilled into someone's head and they're trained to repeat it whenever they hit an argument that points out the cognitive dissonance in their stance (ie believing two things that are mutually incompatible at the same time), or to stop them thinking about things in a certain way.

Like you pointed out "we live in a patriarchy" is a perfect example of a mental seal/thought stopper, and feminist language is riddled with all kinds of examples. There's the unstated assumption that women have it worse at all times in all places and that this cannot be questioned, the "men are oppressors/evil", there's "Smash the partiarchy" and "#killallmen" and "#metoo" to an extent.

No wonder communication is borderline impossible.
