Just a reminder to those who haven't left. This site wants you to feel hated. They want men to be pushed into further radicalization. For the sake of your own mental well-being. Leave this website.

Just a reminder that according to reddit admins. Hate against men (which includes trans and minority men) is not against the rules of reddit.

See here for post on the subject!

Lets take this to the media. If everybody underneath this comment could leave the email of a news outlet or journalist we could take this to that would help.

EDIT:Since this thread is getting big and this may be lost in the comments.

The following is a copy of the email I've sent to various news outlets about this.

I welcome everybody else to do the same.

Hello. I've decided to send you an email with a story I am hoping you can cover.

You see, Reddit is a website wherein people can gather up in specific groups called "subreddits"

I frequently visit a number of subreddits that focus on men and men's issues. And there is a problem I have seen festering for some time there.

Young men and boys are being pushed to right wing radicalization. They're joining Q-anon groups and alt right groups. And I've come to understand where some of this push is coming from.

You see. There's a number of subreddits dedicated to harassment and hate towards these people. and as per the included image. The reddit admins allow it.

Anybody with any kind of knowledge about psychology will tell you that a constant stream of negativity, abuse and denial that any of this is a problem is damaging. And will eventually lead the people on the receiving end finding groups that accept and acknowledge them.

So when hurting underprivileged men go online to talk about their issues. Their feelings, Their lived experiences with things like rape and abuse. They're shut down. Denigrated, treated like they don't matter and nobody cares. They get the message that they are simply making up issues and that they are the source of their own problem. If not the perpetrator.

They're called names like "scrote" or "fragile" or "autistic mouthbreathing virgins" and bullied for this.

This inevitably leads them into a further spiral of Addiction, Depression, Radicalization and Suicide.

And many will choose to lash out against women. Because much of the above is done under the guise of women's empowerment. In much the same way Transphobia is pushed by TERF's

The unfortunate truth is that if you are maximally mean to innocent people, then eventually bad things will happen to you. First, because you have no room to punish people any more for actually hurting you. Second, because people will figure if they’re doomed anyway, they can at least get the consolation of feeling like they’re doing you some damage on their way down.

https://imgur.com/a/pRpSAYc

I encourage everybody to do the same.

Here's some links to do so. If anybody else here has the email addresses of journalists or figures that would cover them. please bring them up here. or send an email yourself.

Admins will surely react if we get a major source of Reddit's advert revenue unhappy with them.

Yes, we should protest. Unfortunately, in the current political climate antipathy towards men is normalized in the media. So I have not the foggies how to pull this off.

EDIT: Rephrase x2.

[–]Notfuckingcannon7 points 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

We could try by using the weapon of "Why do you allow terms like "Autism\Retarded\Etc." to be used as an insult?".

[–]Forgetaboutthelonely3 points 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Yes! Agreed. Send emails or spread the message as much as possible about this as well!

[–]bufedad4 points 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Better tactic is to keep questioning whether that makes Reddit fiscally liable for the effects of men being harassed and threatened on the platform.

If a man, or white woman, were to commit suicide after such a situation, would Reddit be fiscally liable?

[–]mewacketergi21 point 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Burden of proof would be on us to establish this. And in what jurisdiction?

[–]bufedad3 points 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Burden of proof would be on us to establish this. And in what jurisdiction?

I'm pretty sure the US would hold them fiscally liable.

Selective moderation doesn't make them liable, but tacit approval of the content very well could. It's untested legal waters (as far as I'm aware).

[–]mewacketergi21 point 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

I like your line of thinking. However, I am more doubtful that it is realistic to find (1) an experienced corporate liability lawyer that agrees with your interpretation above, and (2) a well-documented case of male suicide, where the family of the deceased wants to go through all the drama, pain, and public scrutiny involved in trying.

[–]bufedad1 point 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Many family members want to blame someone for the death of a loved one (number 2), and you can find a lawyer to take the case. Chances are reddit would settle to keep it from ever going to court (or hitting the news)

[–]OkLieThen1 point 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

They will react if even half of reddit blows up over it. Numerous subs went private when it came out one of the admins reddit hired supports her pedophile father's views.

[–]mewacketergi21 point 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Numerous subs went private when it came out one of the admins reddit hired supports her pedophile father's views.

Let me know when that accomplishes anything.

[–]OkLieThen3 points 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

You mean like how it led to her getting fired?

[–]mewacketergi21 point 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Anything tangible. Letting go of an already-problematic employee isn't much of a result. You aim for something larger here.

[–]OkLieThen2 points 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Wanting a change in the rule isn't much more than firing an employee.

[–]Forgetaboutthelonely28 points 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Just a note that I don't really care about the political leanings of the news outlet. I'd rather the story just get out there.

[–]InfiniteDials10 points 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

I know what you just said, but please not fox. I don’t want conservatives to have this as ammunition for anti-progressive sentiment.

[–]Forgetaboutthelonely35 points 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

I understand your concerns with that. I don't agree with fox news either. But my goal is to start a larger conversation. And if they're the tool to do that. So be it.

[–]stupidpoler23 points 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Do you seriously believe that liberal media will want to report on that?

[–]sno_cone_thehomeloan5 points 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

That’s what I was inclined to think until Lewis Spears made it on Vice News and went viral with a ridiculous and completely fake story about how his electronic chastity cage got hacked and held ransom lmao

[–]InfiniteDials-11 points 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Honestly, I’d rather have this go unreported than have it show up on Fox News.

[–]bufedad13 points 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Yeah, it's better if men just continue to commit suicide at astounding rates, if it means using Fox News to help them....

[–]InfiniteDials0 points 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

No one’s gonna take us seriously if Fox News reports on this!!

[–]bufedad2 points 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Yeah, its better to do nothing than have Fox News report on this.

I mean, its only men dying, why should we care?

[–]InfiniteDials1 point 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

First of all, if I didn’t care about men dying, I wouldn’t be here would I?

Second of all, you know damn well how this shit works. Every time the right gets a hold of men’s issues they turn it into a dog whistle for alt-right sentiment. They use our issues as a means of slowing progressive change and work against our interests. On top of that, this will give other left leaning people more reason to ignore us!

[–]bufedad1 point 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

First of all, if I didn’t care about men dying, I wouldn’t be here would I?

Yeah, people never concern troll people advocating for men's rights... ever.

You literally advocate doing nothing if Fox is our only option...

How can you claim you care when you are advocating doing nothing.

[–]InfiniteDials1 point 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Alright fine. I’ll admit I was being a bit hyperbolic. I just don’t want those scumbags to use us to push their bullshit like they do constantly.

[–]bufedad1 point 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Alright fine. I’ll admit I was being a bit hyperbolic. I just don’t want those scumbags to use us to push their bullshit like they do constantly.

Every news outlet pushes bullshit constantly anymore. I listened to an segment on NPR talking about Walmart closing stores to turn them into warehouses (to compete with Amazon). It was right after the Trump tax breaks and Walmart announcing a universal pay raise for their employees.

The interviewer kept asking the economist if Walmart would save money with the tax cuts, employee raise, and closing the stores to turn them into Warehouses.

The economist (both were women... it was years ago, so don't remember their names) stated repeatedly that it was impossible to tell. Warehouses generally have fewer staff, but they are also higher paid. Walmart itself probably doesn't know whether this would cost more or less.

The interviewer kept on until the economist answered (annoyed), I mean, it's possible.... and that's all the interviewer needed to hear to drop the subject...

[–]OkLieThen1 point 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

I think you be surprised.

[–]InfiniteDials-6 points 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

There a millions of news organizations. Why Fox News?

[–]Forgetaboutthelonely9 points 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

If you have better ones to suggest I'm open to expanding the list.

[–]InfiniteDials1 point 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

NY times? MSNBC? CBS? Not saying their gonna pick it up, but it’s worth a try.

[–]Forgetaboutthelonely1 point 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

[–]bufedad6 points 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

If Fox News is the only one who'll report on it.... why not?

[–]SpacemanSkiff9 points 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Why?

[–]InfiniteDials-2 points 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Not only would it give people more reason to dismiss the problem, but it would also be used by conservative dumb-fucks to push against progressive policies.

[–]SpacemanSkiff13 points 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

So better to bury the problem than give your political opponents ammunition, and in so doing, give anti-male "progressives" ammunition instead?

[–]Additional-Ad-19790 points 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

I agree. Nobody will take Fox News seriously.

And it would make us seem like we're right-wingers. It would give people credence to say "Look? See! Men's Rights Activists ARE alt-right!"

[–]SpacemanSkiff9 points 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

I dunno if I'd rather have that than total silence though.

[–]InfiniteDials-1 point 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

You can give this story to literally any other news station except fox. As far as I’m concerned doing so would do nothing but cause Reddit to dig their heals in anyway. You think they’re gonna listen to Fox News? You think people would actually take it seriously if it came from a source notorious for lying?

[–]sno_cone_thehomeloan8 points 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

I’d rather get it on Fox News and have them throw this issue into the Culture War so conservatives will take it up. At least that way we have somebody on our side.

[–]InfiniteDials0 points 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Why would we want those fucking hacks on our side?

[–]sno_cone_thehomeloan3 points 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

They hold a lot of political power

[–]InfiniteDials1 point 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Jesus Christ.

[–]sno_cone_thehomeloan4 points 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

What? The end game of this, at least for me, is to at least greatly reduce the amount of concrete, legal biases men face. They can do that for us, granted they might need a few more congress seats

[–]InfiniteDials0 points 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Is this place even left wing anymore? Why would we want republicans to gain more seats in congress?!

[–]sno_cone_thehomeloan1 point 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Well I personally would want them to gain seats in Congress anyway to avoid gun control and preserve the Supreme Court but that’s neither here nor there. I don’t really consider myself right-wing but as of right now there are very few if any American politicians working for Men’s Rights, and I don’t think we’re going to get them from the party that ran Hillary for President 5 years ago. What we really is a legit 3rd party but if you’re on this subreddit you probably already feel that way.

[–]OkLieThen1 point 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Do you think all progressive policies and view are good?

[–]superzepto-6 points 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Unfortunately it seems that many in this sub don't care who reports on issues of men's rights, so long as it gets reported. I've been trying to argue against people using Spiked Online as a resource to no avail.

[–]OkLieThen1 point 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

There's no doubt bad media outlets out there. But the point here is to simply get the message out. We can worry about the source once the media changes how it reports things and society takes men's issues seriously.

[–]superzepto2 points 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Using right wing sources just because their message aligns with ours isn't helping men's issues in terms of being taken seriously.

[–]OkLieThen1 point 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

You have to start somewhere as its not like any of the liberal or left wing media will. Vice will call it sexism towards women or something. Buzzfeed will likely do the same. CNN/NYT/etc will all ignore it.

[–]superzepto2 points 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

I think you've missed my point entirely. Unbiased, factual reporting is always better than left wing media but if getting the left wing media on your side is your goal then aligning yourself with right wing media is a good way to make yourself look like just another alt-righter.

[–]OkLieThen0 points 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

No I am not missing the point, though I wager you are. Men's issues are already seen as not being a left wing thing and that one that is right leaning anyway. But if you want any sort of progress you being picky isn't going to help anything. Especially when the right wing media can help you far more than the left.

[–]InfiniteDials-2 points 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

People use that as a source here? Jesus Christ.

[–]superzepto-5 points 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

It's been a super prevalent source in this subreddit for the past few weeks, unfortunately. I've tried really hard to convince people to be skeptical if not outright dismissive of it but most of the time it's been like beating my head against a wall.

[–]a-man-from-earth5 points 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

No, it has not been "super prevalent". All of two articles have been used in the past month. You are majorly exaggerating, which shows a bias on your part.

While I always encourage people to be skeptical, this is an issue of judging on a case by case basis. Let's not commit the genetic fallacy.

[–]superzepto-2 points 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Yep, my bad, bit of an over-exaggeration on my part. However, an over-exaggeration does not a bias make. Even one article from that magazine being posted in a left-wing sub should be cause for concern, the same goes for the Daily Wire, Daily Mail and Fox.

[–]a-man-from-earth3 points 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

No, it shouldn't be cause for concern. Yes, we should check sources and keep a healthy skepticism. We should not reject something based on where it came from. If it's true, it's true.

[–]OkLieThen2 points 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Having it on Fox will more than not forces reddits hand here and correct it. Because what will likely happen is someone will link it in say /r/news and it will cause a huge storm. Look at what happen when they hired that women as an admin who supported her pedophile father. Numerous subs went dark over that.

[–]Leslie2171 point 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

lmao you believe fake news media would report this?

[–]Notfuckingcannon7 points 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Already did with a hikikomori activist here in Italy. This stuff MUST be of his interest since a lot of shut-ins spend a generous amount of their time on Reddit.

[–]DanteLivra3 points 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

[–]empatheticapathetic3 points 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Great email but the anti male slant might make it irrelevant to the mainstream media agenda.

[–]xeverxsleepx3 points 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Yet they still cry and moan that "Reddit is an Nazi site!!!!!".

All of mainstream social media is like this now. I feel like an even huger bullying target than I already was. My mental health is destroyed.

[–]Oncefa2left-wing male advocate 187 points188 points189 points 5 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

So those rules don't protect individuals from threats or bullying?

If someone threatens you on Reddit you have to be a woman or a POC for that threat to be taken seriously?

Not caring about misandry is one thing. But not caring about threats and harassment if the target happens to be a man is something else entirely. Bullying is still a problem and shouldn't be tolerated no matter who the bully is or who the victim is.

[–]Forgetaboutthelonely[S] 99 points100 points101 points 5 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Yup. According to this logic. Anybody who harasses anybody else is justified if their target is white or male.

[–]Oncefa2left-wing male advocate 58 points59 points60 points 5 years ago* (4 children) | Copy Link

How is this not obviously stupid?

I know I'm speaking to the choir here but I thought bullying, including in male spaces, was one of the things wokes (or at least social progressives) liked to talk about.

Did that all change recently?

Your complaint clearly isn't about misandry and harassment just based on gender / race. Your complaint was about actual targeted harassment against specific individuals on Reddit endemic to specific subreddits. Which is very clearly spelled out in their content policy as something they don't tolerate.

[–]Forgetaboutthelonely[S] 42 points43 points44 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Yeah. But they're white and/or male. So it doesn't matter.

I mean not even all of us are white

[–]MelissaMiranti 7 points8 points9 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Doesn't really matter if you're perceived to be. You could be a race/gender "traitor" for having a different opinion, no matter how right it is.

[–]mewacketergi2left-wing male advocate 26 points27 points28 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If am not mistaken, Reddit is a corporation on the verge of an IPO. So they take what opinion-leaders think and say about them very seriously. Unfortunately, that is not us.

From what I have seen, trans is fine too. White transmale is probably borderline and tough considering all that male privilege.

I believe Rule 1 implicitly suggests that bullying and any form of harm to white people or men are allowed, or even encouraged since they are done in the context of “oppressed” castes performing what is basically “revenge”, even to people who have not done anything wrong.

TL;DR: Bullying (people not protected by the rule) is a natural consequence of Rule 1, and is therefore encouraged by the Admins. Ergo, the lack of support for whites and males against bullying is by design.

Double standards like this will only push more and more boys and men towards radicalization. That’s all I have to say. Not everyone will respond to this in a productive, calm and organized way. Then they’ll make the Pikachu face when it comes back to bite them. Worse thing is, instead of looking critically at their own actions, they’ll just say the rise in alt-right numbers is because the white man is inherently evil and bigoted.

[–]manbro7left-wing male advocate 77 points78 points79 points 5 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

I think it's happening already. People checking out of society increased, and MRM subreddit has more members than the feminism one if that reflects anything about the change in society.

What people don't realize is that an entire generation grew up with getting hated for being men. Sexist new vocabularies being invented to attack men, male issues erased or ignored, and special quotas, organizations and help for women-only. We have a whole generation that grew up with this stuff and eating dirt for the last decade(s)

[–]Deadlocked02 41 points42 points43 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I mean, MRM is alright. If a man is tired of this culture and join the MRM or something like this, I see it as a good outcome, but some people will inevitably find their home in very dark places.

[–]daltonmojica 36 points37 points38 points 5 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

And the sad part is, it is often the nicer guys that get affected most.

They’ve lived their lives trying to understand why they’re inherently wrong and problematic for simply being born male, and why the world hates them even though they aren’t being what they are accused of.

And yet, they’ll be pressured, and most likely cave into contributing their time, work, and humanity to save a dying society that ironically assasinated itself; all in exchange for a fleeting reprieve from this deemed original sin.

Society is treating men like some vile disease, and yet also expects them to be the cure for everything.

Honestly the healthiest thing for men especially is to just get off the internet and out in the world. Real people often aren't as batshit insane as the few the internet loves to viralize. Don't get me wrong, I love the internet, but being able to separate internet from real life is important

I agree with you for sure. I don't blame the internet entirely. My guess is just that people let themselves get wrapped up in the bleakness of the world, and that's especially easy to do on the internet, what with instant access to all the world's ongoings.

[–]Forgetaboutthelonely[S] 25 points26 points27 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Nine months ago, reddit admins announced an update to the rules. The new content policy specifically stated:

Communities and people that incite violence or that promote hate based on identity or vulnerability will be banned. [...]

While the rule on hate protects such groups, it does not protect all groups or all forms of identity. For example, the rule does not protect groups of people who are in the majority[...]

This meant that they actually codified into their rules that it's OK to be racist against white people and OK to be sexist against men (never mind that women are actually a numerical majority).

They immediately received massive backlash about that, so they struck the bolded part from the content policy. You can read the current wording here.

Marginalized or vulnerable groups include, but are not limited to, groups based on their actual and perceived race, color, religion, national origin, ethnicity, immigration status, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, pregnancy, or disability. These include victims of a major violent event and their families.

While the rule on hate protects such groups, it does not protect those who promote attacks of hate or who try to hide their hate in bad faith claims of discrimination.

So they updated the wording to sound inclusive, but this latest reply from an admin (the one in the OP) shows that admins still interpret the rule according to its original, retracted wording!

This is why subreddits like FragileMaleRedditor or FemaleDatingStrategy, which promote hate based on identity, can hit the front page and not get quarantined or banned.

Reddit is consistently ranks in the top 20 most visited websites in the world. It's kind of a big deal as far as online platforms are concerned.

[–]ugavini 10 points11 points12 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's exactly what I was thinking. Reddit is a global site. White people are a minority globally. I'm South African. Here white people make up 8% of the population. Most police, judges, politicians, teachers, nurses, doctors etc are black. If I turn on a TV or radio, I am seldom 'represented'. Most media is in languages I don't understand. By the rules of 'structural racism' white people here can't be racist. Bullshit. But then yes, to Americans nobody else exists. The world is created in their image. Poese.

That's flipping stupid lol.

What happened to intersectionality? Intersections of class, wealth, education, neurodiversity?

A lot of men and women, black white Asian etc exist with ar least one or more characteristics, many of which may be immutable, that will have them labeled as having some kind of vulnerability. Why is it only the intersections of gender and race when pertaining to whiteness and maleness do all other vulnerabilities cease to exist?

Why is a poor, neurodiverse, depressed male invulnerable, but a rich, well educated, upper class, well connected white woman crippled with vulnerabilities?

Can someone make this make sense please because this sounds like some sweaty white boy from San Francisco who works in the marketing department of an indy coffee company level of appeasement bullshit lmao

[–]matrixislife 21 points22 points23 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]superzepto 17 points18 points19 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The stupid thing about this rule is that men ARE vulnerable as a group. Even a little bit of harassment online could cause a man to end his own life. I get that white people aren't vulnerable as a group, but to say that men should take the harassment, abuse and hatred that is thrown at them is fucking despicable. If even one Redditor takes their own life because they were harassed and abused for being male, then that admin will have blood on their hands.

[–]daltonmojica 12 points13 points14 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

As if you’d actually expect them to understand this. They’d probably say, “man up” or “don’t bother us with emotional labour/burdens” and go back to their moral high horse advocating for abolishing gender stereotypes and promoting mental health without a twinge of self-awareness.

[–]sno_cone_thehomeloan 16 points17 points18 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ngl this combined with the pedophile Admin might be the straw that breaks the camels back as far as my time on Reddit. Question: if reddit is a business, and businesses aren't allowed to discriminate on the basis of race or sex, and someone is harrassed, and that person is denied service by reddit (in the form of intervening against the harassment) based on their race or sex, then is reddit not legally liable for race/sex discrimination?

Edit: I'm not finding any case law, which is always a bad sign, but in principle there is a case for discrimination if reddit has clearly stated they will discriminate against someone based on a protected class. This may be an opportunity for a case of first impression if someone is seriously discriminated against because of reddit's reckless policy.

[–]kotoandjuri 5 points6 points7 points 5 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Section 230 says websites aren't legally liable for the content users create. That said, they are still held accountable by investors/advertisers.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

What if it's not about what users create, but what they let trough?

[–]kotoandjuri 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Same difference. That section states that selective moderation is not them stating they approve of or agree with the things that are unmoderated.

[–]bufedad 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This isn't selective moderation, but them approving and agreeing with it.

[–]Gamer_Jack_Gameson 3 points4 points5 points 5 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

Right, but they are responsible if they promise protection from harassment as a service, and clearly state that they do not offer that service to white people or men. If reddit said they aren't responsible for user content and won't police it, then I would agree with you, but they have created a situation where policing content is a service they offer.

Conservatives have lost a bunch of lawsuits over similar claims, but the difference is that they are asking for protection from political discrimination, which is not protected (and ridiculous).

[–]enjoycarrots 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's arguable, and I think morally and technically this is the correct view. But it's not something that would be enforced and I think such a lawsuit would fail for a number of reasons.

[–]Forgetaboutthelonely[S] 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]Kimchi_Cowboy 9 points10 points11 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I checked reddit's rules recently: https://www.redditinc.com/policies/content-policy

I remember maybe 1-2 years ago, the language was MUCH more clear that they basically did not believe men/whites were subject to protection. I think they maybe changed the language a bit to make it more vague now. Does anyone have a archive of the rules where it was pretty blatantly against men/whites.

I'm a man, I'm not feminist, and I'm not even trans-exclusionary...lol. however, I do remember getting in a disagreement with lesbian who was married to a transperson because she was advocating for children under 16 being able to undergo puberty blockers without parental consent- so because I care about children's safety and the irreversibility of hormone therapy on them it means I'm anti trans?

but don't just take my word for it - here's proof:

And here's reddit telling me they won't do anything about it

[–]CountOfMonkeyCrisco 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

That's nuts. I support trans people 100%, but if someone wants to transition, it should be done with guidance from a therapist, and if they're a minor, with parental support. It sucks that some kids can't get parental support, but allowing a child to be on hormones without the parents' knowledge is just scary.

Removed because of using a gendered slur and promoting physical assault.

Let's try to stay civil here, even if the rage is justified.

[–]superzepto 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Gendered slur? Oh wait. That word. Sorry, I'm Australian and that word is the most prominent in my vernacular as it is with most Australians. I don't even register when I'm saying/typing it any more. Apologies.

That’s just embarrassing.

These people act EXACTLY like what they supposedly hate.

[–]IntelligentEbb4837 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I've heard they use the mechanical turk service from Amazon to pay for those hate reports. Which means they go to a bunch of random people, instead of the hateful bigoted pro-pedophilia reddit admins. So remember to report away all the hate you see, as sometimes the people they pay to review the reports are actual sensible individuals that will correctly take down all forms of hate. Not just the "wrong kind" and leave up the anti-White, anti-straight anti-male hate the reddit admins explicitly endorse.

[–]InfiniteDials 8 points9 points10 points 5 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

based on identity or vulnerability

Pretty sure ‘white’ and ‘male’ are identities. So even if you don’t agree men are in any way vulnerable, the policy should still apply.

[–]jabberwockxeno -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Before you try to make a giant explosion about this, have you considered trying to point out that Gender isn't like Race, and that both men and women suffer from gender biases and norms and face systemic issues?

I agree that this is hugely problematic, but it's possible it can be resolved without burning the whole thing down.

I would at least ask them for clarification if comments or subreddits that targets men on the basis of ways they face those harmful gender stereotypes and norms breaks the rules: For example, would a comment that targets men in the context of specific ways that we face sterotypes, discrimination, and systemic problems (Such as in the context of men not being seen as empathic, or primary caregivers, or generalized as preprators and not being victims of things like sexual assault) still break Rule1?

[–]maxlvb 5 points6 points7 points 5 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

I agree that this is hugely problematic, but it's possible it can be resolved without burning the whole thing down.

When you realise that it's so problematic, the only way to resolve the problem is to burn the whole thing down and start again.

Complaining about things you're not willing to change is like running on a treadmill to get to the other side of the room.

[–]jabberwockxeno -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yes, but you're assuming that this is something they aren't willing to change or address if they are approached about it in a sensible manner, which i'm not convinced of yet.

[–]maxlvb 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

But isn't it the admins that get to decide what is sensible or not? IE the reason for this debate...

IOW why burning the whole thing down and starting again is looking increasingly like the only sensible solution to this 'content policy rule'

[–]Suicidal_Alone 7 points8 points9 points 5 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

I'm not demonizing women. It's just calling the ones who insult us by calling us "autistic virgins" like wtf are they? They clearly hate men, they sound just like incels but females. It's the same thing. Most women are not like this at all. I think most women irl agree with us

[–]Forgetaboutthelonely[S,M] 10 points11 points12 points 5 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

[–]Suicidal_Alone 6 points7 points8 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

just to add to this. What's wrong with incels? It's not because they can't get laid etc. its because they hate women. The people who write this garbage are essentially female incels. They can't get laid, or they can't keep the guy they want (cause god forbid they lowered their standards - again just like the incels) and then they take it out on all men as if it's our fault that they were born the way they are.

And the use of autistic as an insult is just amazing to me give the rate of autism in our society. I've met men (and women!) who are autistic and they are lovely people.

[–]Sock_Crates 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Primary criticism is that the first response is a tiny bit vitriolic in the last little bit, but honestly I wouldn't be surprised if the admins only respond to vitriol and delete all other mails so that if things do get leaked to media, they get sympathy points.

You're not entertaining any critical thinking whatsoever if you think that /r/fragilemaleredditor and /r/fragilewhiteredditor are anything but mocking fragility. I don't know how you manage to larp as a leftist without an ounce of critical thinking or awareness of nuance. Unsure about the other subs you've mentioned as I've never seen them.

Reddit policies already prevent harassing of individuals; if you're being harassed, report it.

Trying to report a subreddit because it hurt your feelings based on some perceived injustice that is very clearly not happening is ridiculous (re: the fragile subs). If I saw your message and the way you worded it, I'd laugh it off too. with your "Go ahead. Delete this" shit. laughable waste of a platform

[–]a-man-from-earthleft-wing male advocate[M] 4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

[–]Onion_Guy 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It isn’t. I’d never do that. I find it hilarious that you think it does, though. Oh, is this my cue to say “go ahead. Delete this” or something? You’re deleting my comment because I called you out for lacking critical thinking or nuance. That’s not promoting hate. Keep powertripping though. This isn’t activism.

[–]Forgetaboutthelonely[S] 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah. Trying to say that subs that specifically mock people for being of certain demographics are "actually about fragility" is promoting hate.

If it was about fragility their names and content wouldn't mention either of those demographics.

With constant pushes to say that men aren't needed. That our issues don't matter. That we're rapists, abusers and oppressors just because we've been born with a penis. That we're fragile if we express our feelings but toxic if we don't. Is it any wonder that young men are joining radical groups that actually treat their issues as legitimate?

That's why this sub exists. It's a space for people to come to talk about their issues and have them be taken seriously. While not luring them into radical hateful beliefs.

[–]FearlessReaction5 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

To document instances of misandry, consider these options

1) take screenshots and upload them to Imgur
2) archive the page using a site like https://archive.vn/
3) crosspost the link to a dedicated subreddit like /r/everydaymisandry

You can also report misandry directly to the admins here.

I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please contact the moderators of this subreddit if you have any questions or concerns.
