My history with liberalism has centered around treating people fairly in society. I have always supported minority rights and women's rights and of course I eventually became convinced that discrimination and bigotry effects men as well.
I don't think you can call yourself a liberal and not support equality for all people, including for men. It is against the very ideals of what liberalism stands for.
Of course real world politics aren't black and white and that's why you see conservatives supporting men's rights, and liberals supporting the ban of things like vaping (which really should be an individual's choice -- if 18 year old kids are vaping because they saw an adult doing it somewhere, who cares?). Many conservatives go on and on about how they care about freedom and equality, but then are against things like gay marriage. But of course liberals aren't perfect either, so I'm not sure what the political divide there really is. It's possible, for example, that a conservative could argue the same thing that I'm arguing here for liberalism.
The point though is that if you think of yourself as caring about equality, caring about civil rights, "social justice", and things like that, then you also have to care about equality for men. I just don't see any other way around that.

ironically, liberalism applied to the realm of s-xual selection induces a higher degree of inequality than any other foundation, since everybody is construed as an atomized individual who is not culpable for the negative externalities of their s-xual behavior. this forum seems to operate on an extremely american understanding of the term 'left wing'.
