I can see two major reasons for this. One of them is gender norms, which tell you that women are vulnerable and precious creatures who need help and protection. This makes people care more about problems faced by women, and ignore problems faced by men. A salient example of that is called the missing white woman syndrome: when a girl is missing, there is much more media coverage than when it's a boy. The result is that studies that defend women are more likely to get published, receive more citations (even if they can't be reproduced) and people will also share it over and over without checking whether it's true.

The second reason is the "women are wonderful" effect, which makes people see women as better persons overall, in a wide variety of setups. Several studies have shown that people will more readily believe a scientific finding if the result favors women:

It's not just that people believe there are no differences between sexes: people are in fact more likely to believe a study that claims women are superior for biological reasons. I think the "women are wonderful" effect accounts for these results in a way benevolent sexism doesn't.

There are plenty of examples of discrimination and issues that effect men. Many are actually discovered much to the bewilderment of researchers who set out expecting to find exactly the opposite.

Examples include legal discrimination (which goes beyond just sentencing), police discrimination, child custody discrimination, divorce discrimination, hiring discrimination, discrimination against male victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, medical discrimination (funding and resources for men), life expectancy gap, working hours and benefits gap, relationship discrimination (women usually control most relationships), education / teaching discrimination, genital mutilation, sexism in media (most tv shows, movies, etc, show women in a better light than men), false allegations...

Of course there is a bias against finding and perceiving things as discriminatory against men. And this happens even in academia.

There is a new Zealand documentary called Why Am I. They take data from the Otago longitudinal study and present the findings from it, with many of they outcomes having significant effect.

I think it is the third episode where they discuss the result of their dv findings. Men and women are as likely to stage a physical assault against a partner was the finding.

They then described the challenge of getting that particular research published and were looking for forums to present it in.

Note these guys were printing gold at this point with their other research. But they couldn't break thru and fund places to present it. They gave up eventually on it.

Last week my wife was told by a local researcher that the group doing the research were told to back off or have their funding removed. I hope that isn't true, but could be.

Who funds such studies? How much total funding is available for such studies compared to studies from a feminist standpoint?

I run a support service for men and have had a large number of people come through wanting to do research on our clients. Even when they have good intentions in working with men, they all have to have a section on feminism and what the findings mean from the perspective.

And often the research is something that if I had known what they were putting together I just wouldn't have supported. I've asked that researchers approach us first and ask us what we want researched. Nothing about us without us.

But that hasn't worked. I still get people getting some good idea from other students, with that being from inside the thinking at the university and that perspective is so populated by feminism.

Humans instinctually care more about the well-being, provisioning and safety of women. This increased concern creates increased focus on women's issues, which results in the creation of more studies.

I can't speak for all discrimination issues but I can speak at least somewhat for criminal justice issues.

There's a lack of funding. People tend to feel more sympathy for female victims than male victims, so trying to get the funding necessary is difficult. Showcase a battered woman and people want to help. A battered man? It doesn't get the funds necessary.

The other issue sometimes is just finding men to participate. Like, say you want to do a self-report survey on domestic violence. A lot of men will be reluctant to participate and reluctant to admit or acknowledge if they have been abused. And they frequently will not want to talk about it.
