State Secretary for Gender Equality, Equal Opportunity and Diversity Sarah Schlitz (Ecolo) receives headwind after Walloon paper La Meuse announced that she will be present on a women-only walk on Friday in Luik. Men aren't welcome.

According to the organizers of the walk, the corona crisis has increased social inequalities, and inequalities between women and men. "Years of progress regarding inequality have been made undone. Fellow party member Valerie Van Peel is also incensed. "How is this possible? We have a state secretary for EQUAL opportunity who does nothing but exclude people. Men as the root of all evil. How do you justify this to yourself?", she fulminates.

Vlaams Belang demands a press release that Schlitz resigns and calls her initiative "unheard of". Vlaams Belang Member of Parliament Steven Creyelman announced he will question both the state secretary herself and prime minister Alexander De Croo (Open Vld) regarding this in parliament.

Meanwhile, Schlitz herself has also replied via twitter, first of all responding to Bouchez. "With this activity, the participants - who, as women, have been hit harder by the health crisis - share their experiences and contemplate solutions for a more equal economic recovery. Our country needs that", she explains. "In stead of arguing on Twitter, I would like to discuss equality with you, in all sectors of society, seeing how as this subject seems to interest you."

Her response is just ridiculous, and dishonest.

First of all, no, women have not been hit harder by any crisis, least of all the Covid crisis. More men have died than women have of Covid. Alone that negates her claim.

Seeing as calling for preferential treatment for women is not about 'gender equality', she should have absolutely no ground to stand on.

But this is the way of feminists. Motte and Baileys everywhere you can look. Dishonesty and 'oh we just want to discuss equality' under vicious lies. It's sickening.
