This is why my wife and I pay half, regardless of income. We have a obligation to pay half. And now I don't have to tell her to work more. She just has to work enough to make enough. And I do the same.

Even easier you don't even have to look at data, just pure logic:

Suppose that for exact same work, result, EVERYTHING, women are paid less than men. Put another way, suppose women provide the same thing but CHEAPER than men. What happens in this scenario? Companies who are geniuses will make sure to hire only or mostly women to minimize costs.

But obviously this is not the case; why? Because women aren't actually paid less; and those who are paid less do not provide the same work (e.g. maternity leave)

The wage gap isn't real and nor is the patriarchy. They take 1% of the super successful men and use them as an example and don't look at most of the homeless people who are men. It's even worse than that, If you don't understand the pay gap you don't understand the averages of mode, median, and mean that we were taught literally in like 3rd grade.

Median is used for a very specific reason with this stat. It's used because on such a large scale it's hard to even move. If you took a million women in the top half of female (median) earnings, and gave them all literally all the left over money on the planet, the media does not move since they are already in the top half.

It's an incredibly dishonest and intentional way to get women riled up over nothing.

I don't think this is true either. The original 78% figure was the difference between the median wage earners for men and women which means it didn't even adjust for the fact that men work more hours than women.

The wage gap does indeed exist but it is simply a consequence of women choosing family over careers. If anything, the wage gap should be much more significant but it’s not due to companies actively making efforts to seem inclusive due to diversity quotas.

Ok. But women were not allowed to work in many fields up until the 20th century. There are still a lot of norms for which fields they should work in. Ask yourself, as a straight man would you jump at the idea of working at an industry dominated by women? Why and why not? Could this contribute to the ‘why women choose lower paying jobs’? They choose fields because there are already other women there. They feel like they belong there. Working in a field where others look like you is a privilege. You are accepted, comfortable and feel free from worrying about harassment as much as others. I am an anti feminist by the way. Just my 2 cents on this topic.

I've searched for the underlying research that backs this up and couldn't find it. Only the bald assertion that wages are calculated this way. I believe it, but I'd like to be able to site the research that SHOWS it rather than relying on bald assertion. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
