He hurt you and you want to spell out all the ways he did wrong hoping he’ll feel the weight of his actions. He’s not reading your paragraphs. His heart will not suddenly grow two sizes and be able to sympathize with you. You writing him essays in response gives him power over you. You will be wasting energy and emotions. Writing him paragraphs will not magically erase his cheating, misogynistic attitude, or blatant disrespect for you.

If he’s done wrong, it’s not in your best interest to map out his errors and say you noticed xyz red flags, he will just use it in the future to cover his tracks better while he continues his scrotey behavior.

I don’t remember the thread I first saw it on. But I repeat this advice to myself and my best friend all the time. I choose my words carefully and words hold a lot of meaning to me so so fall into the trap of writing essays worth of texts. I have to remind myself that paragraphs of carefully thought out responses will not change him and it will not be in my best interest to give him ammo to use against me or hide his slip ups better.
