In the US, while your GPA matters in admissions, your SAT scores (which are not biased), your essays and extraccuricular activities matter much more. In my country, in Computer Science there is almost an equal gender ratio, while in Medicine are more women than men. So I'm assuming that the reason why fewer women go into STEM in the US than in my country is fear of potential discrimination.

But eventually males hit puberty to. The large amount of testosterone that males are exposed to in life. Ensure that males eventually surpass females in physical, and mental capacity. Testosterone is a performance enhancing drug. That's why males start losing muscle, and mental capacity around middle age. That's when testosterone really starts to plummet. But after males reach puberty they are physically, and mentally ahead of females until they die. Which is why trans men joining female sports is such a button topic now. It would be even if the testosterone had been cut off before puberty. Late in life transition means the trans man still has the muscle of a man. They destroy the competition.
