Dude that's not what hypergamy is. Hypergamy is preference not a straight jacket. It's about "dating up" and getting the best available option within the social circle. As such it was/is crutial to human evolution.

So you say, "there is no such thing as hypergamy", then you give an example of a twisted version of hypergamy and apply it on women.

I have have never understood the issue with hypergamy. Literally everyone wants to get the best person than can, wether that be physically, socially, or financially. It just seems like a bunch of whining from people not getting who they want.

I don’t think women are hypergamous, you can’t generalize an entire gender. Just like how men collectively have a lot of variance so do women. If you think women are by nature hypergamous analyze the kind of women you interact with and the company you keep.

Most women in my experience just want to be loved. Of course attraction plays a role in that, we feel happy when we look at people we’re attracted to, but I think most people are aware of what their league is and are attracted to people within that league.

Of course there are people who try to hold out and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t

It's simple. Biologically, women and people AFAB who are fertile inherently have something to offer, the ability to have children. And our ability to do so is important because it is finite. We lose eggs over the course of our lifetime while men continue to produce sperm into old age.
