So this is a truism that I believe I first heard from u/SunshineSundress on this sub. I am in a situation where I am really feeling this since I am starting to feel pangs of hypergamy with the guy I am dating (31m).
To preface: my N count is pretty low. As a 27 y/o, I only had two long term relationships (each lasting almost 2 years) and one short term relationship (we were friends initially) that didn't work out. SMV-wise I am conventionally attractive and fit (former athlete) and look quite young (I've been carded in Europe this year where the drinking age is 18 and no one generally cares about this). RMV-wise, I have a lot of traits that a family-oriented alpha would like: I am not a "modern feminist", I value traditional family, I want to look up to my man as the captain, I am not naturally super feminine but I've been working very hard at cultivating it, and I have the RPW skills (I am good with kids, I can cook/bake/clean, I am patient, etc).
A few things about my boyfriend: He's very caring, willing to provide for me, please me in bed, support me emotionally, etc. However, no matter how hard I try to focus on these positive qualities, I can't help thinking that there is another guy out there who would be a better fit for me.
We don't agree on some fundamental ways to raise potential kids, we don't exactly see eye to eye on politics and what's happening in the world currently (I am a staunch libertarian/ancap and he is slight libertarian leaning but still believes government is a necessary evil and welfare proframs are great, etc), and the biggest one is that I just don't find him super attactive on a daily basis. He does turn me on sexually but it's very rare that I find him attractive in normal circumstances. In the beginning of dating I was willing to overlook that because we've had some amazing conversations, but now that the "honeymoon period" is dying down, I realize he actually doesn't make me laugh. I don't feel excited to go on dates with him or plan a trip together. It almost feels like an obligation at this point.
The man I date doesn't have to be a clown or a supermodel but I want us to laugh together (like, LOL) at least sometimes and I want to be excited about seeing him and sharing my future with him.
Do I do him a favor and just end it? Given my own RMV/SMV is that wise at my age? He would be devastated since on paper we did have so many great moments together but I think it may be better in the long run.

Definitely a valid point and critique. I am still learning to "go with my gut" when it come to relationships and me asking this subreddit is an attempt to see what logically thinking brains would come up with for this situation.
I've already made the decision to end it shortly after writing this, FYI, because I value my happiness above another person's comfort (staying in this relationship won't lead to his happiness or mine in the long run).
Maybe I could have phrased this more of a discussion question on hypergamy rather than being so specific and crowdsource-y about my own situation.
