I have been single for several years now. When trying to get to know a guy one thing I try to bring up early in the vetting process is something that will get them to tell me how they feel about gay rights, same sex marriage...that sort of thing. My daughter (21) recently came out to our family. This is something that I have known about her for quite a while since she has communicated this to me since she has been fairly young. This has therefore been VERY important to me to know how a guy feels early. Is he respectful towards same sex couples? Is he ok with it as long as "it's not his kid"?

I don't out my daughter, but I do try and bring something up in conversation to try and gauge their reaction. Actually when I was doing OLD I had a picture of me wearing a "Free Mom Hugs" shirt with a rainbow heart on it that I wore to a Pride event. That helps some of the trash see themselves out.
