Is there a difference between your partner "roasting" you or for example your best friends?
I see a lot of people roast eachother "in the name of love" because they don't mean it, it makes them closer together somehow and to "lighten up the conversation" or anything. I notice this in my friend group too and I don't feel very comfortable with it anymore, I never did actually.
I feel that actively roasting each other is a way to avoid vulnerability and puts a hold on vulnerability because now everything can be a joke and when you say something about it, they will respond with "lighten up", "you take everything so serious", "you're overreacting" blablabla. This feels really like gaslighting and not be taken serious.
Do I need to 'take a joke'? Am I too sensitive? Or do I just feel that I don't like roasting each other because I find it more loving to make real contact instead of insulting someone? 🥴
What boundaries would you suggest? And do you recognize this?
