A sub I no longer frequent used to have a "Sanity Sunday" day where people and mods would post examples of hope, empathy and logic to off-set the rest of the week's posts about hate, contempt and irrationality.

Here's a wonderful post and thread about FDS where many people show they understand hate when they see it.

People get it. They just don't often have the opportunity to show it.
