In the UK you hear “pandemic of violence against women and girls” all the time from multiple sources. They’ve 100% been been prepped to say the phrase and the Met Police have had to respond, spinning up specialist units to investigate violent crimes against women.

Yet look at murder statistics and (no surprise) you’ll find men make up the vast majority of victims.

If you were an alien looking at these two facts, you’d be forced to conclude women are cared far more about than men.

Yet we’re told we live in a “patriarchy” where men have privilege.

Police said there was no prior link between the suspect and the victim.
Dembska was murdered at around 5.15am on January 2. While police found evidence of rape, they could not say if it took place before or after the murder.
Aquilina was arrested on the day of the murder but was referred to Mount Carmel psychiatric hospital for assessment. He was discharged on Wednesday.
Police confirmed they were investigating claims that Aquilina had previously sexually harrassed young women onine but said they had not received any reports before the murder and appealed for people to come forward.

I don't see any connection between the two, there is no mention of surveillance cameras or why this man was arrested. There is no link between the crime and the victim in the article.

Also 'evidence of rape' is rather vague. And what if the woman had consensual sex before she was killed? Would that be evidence of rape?

There's not enough information in this article to draw any conclusions.

So he was just as likely to have raped a man? That's a pretty bold statement. I imagine gender played a role there.

I’m sorry, but a kill is a kill. Unless someone explicitly declares that the only reason they killed someone was because of their gender, it’s a non-starter for me. Some women will die due to sexism and the guy is just going to have to rot like a normal killer. Deal with it.
