No, being a man is about being your best self, taking care of yourself, standing up for yourself, and being the kind of person YOU want to be.

Trad-cons are just right leaning feminists, the only bonus they have is at least Trad-Cons don't think boys should suffer or be forced fed hormone blockers while being labeled "Toxic".

If it's Trad-Con v. Feminist I prefer Trad-Con, I would rather have someone who doesn't think of Men as a tool.

I think for close friends and family it is respectable to be willing to sacrifice yourself for them and I think many of us would. I think being a decent human being and helping others out is also respectable. Be a good citizen as Marcus Aurelius believed as well as Jesus and his disciples.

I tend to draw the line at stepping into a dark alley.. nobody should be ashamed of just calling the cops and waiting for them to arrive. Men should not just be disposable like that. They also shouldn't be ashamed to stay single. As a Christian myself it seems funny when being a good Christian man means wifing up considering the origins and all... And the messages about how beint single is a blessing that allows you to focus on Godly things more without distraction and split loyalties

First off, what misandrist and misogynistic drivel is this? Article writer has accomplished to be sexist towards both men and women. Bravo.

Yes, men should be physically strong. They should also exemplify traditional masculine virtues like courage, independence, and assertiveness. But why? Not so they can sh-tpost about how ripped or good-looking they are compared to libs, but so they can protect and defend those who are weak.

Alright, but wouldn't everyone, including women benefit from being able to protect and defend those who are weak? Doesn't also women benefit from exemplifying these virtues? Having courage, independence and assertiveness helps everyone, not just men. Why should only men exemplify these? Does article writer not want women to be courageous, independent and assertive? Would he rather that women be spineless, non assertive and dependent? I fail to see how that helps either men or women for that sake.

That is the organizing principle behind the entire concept of manliness: it is not a style or a pose or an adornment. It is a way of being, of living according to the principle that you are responsible for the welfare of others, and should sacrifice yourself for their sake.

Why shouldn't, in principle, everyone be responsible for the welfare of others or sacrifice themselves for others sake. Why only men? To put it bluntly, that's super unfair to men and be dismisses women's ability and desire to sacrifice themselves for others sake and welfare too.

What does that mean in practice? It means stepping in to help those in need, whether it’s a woman being harassed or a stranger whose car has broken down. It means risking your own safety to protect someone being attacked, instead of just filming the attack on your phone and posting it online like a beta.

I think we all can get behind helping those in need, but why is women excluded from helping those in need? Shouldn't women help women and men who are being harassed, just like men should help men and women? Why's all the responsibility on men? Is article writer saying women aren't capable of taking on such responsibility? And what of those men who are disabled.. what of those? Not all men can risk their own safety, just like not all women are too weak to risk their own safety.

I'm also curious whetter the author of the article thinks women filming an attack is a beta for filming an attack?

Not every man wants to marry or wants to raise a family, and not every woman does either for that matter. Childfree men exist, just like childfree women do. That said, if you're gonna marry, by all means be faithful no matter what gender you are. Anyway, does the author think that those men who don't want to marry or have kids aren't masculine men? Or did the author not consider that?

It means working whatever hours and at whatever job in order to provide for that family.

Where do I even start to begin... By all means provide for your family if you committed yourself to them, but why the hell would you go above and beyond unless your wife does too? Shouldn't you both put in equal effort? Why's there no mention of this?

It means going to church every Sunday, whether you feel like it or not, to pass your faith on to your kids.

So we got a Christian boy.. is he speaking to the choir or the general population of men here? Cause last I checked, lots of men don't go to church, and that's not cause they're not masculine men.. it's cause they're not fucking religious... Also, people should be careful about what kind of faith they pass on.. considering there's such a thing as religious trauma.

It means getting up in the middle of the night to feed a colicky baby. It means taking your two-year-old daughter to swim class and singing all the songs — your own sense of dignity be damned.

Finally something I can agree with. Some men leave these kinds of tasks completely up to the mother, but it's good to hear that he thinks men should participate in raising their own kids instead of just being wage slaves and breadwinners.

The person who wrote this article is trying really hard to get across a good message, but he manages to fuck it up by being sexist to everyone, even and particularly the men he is speaking to who is his main audience..

All taken into consideration, I do see his perspective.. and I do agree the gender roles debate has gone off the rails on the left, but if this is the poster boy for the politically right, then I wouldn't wanna be on that side either.

I also think I would've have taken so much an issue with this article if only the qualities he encouraged in men, he also encouraged in women. Some nuance, and this would've been a perfectly fine article (minus the church and marriage and kids part.. as not all men and women want or would benefit from that!)

The real patriarchy is that the rich men in society expect the poor men to lay down their lives and be expendable. I hate gow femenist dont understand this. Its literally the top 1% oppressing everyone else. The big corporations and international men. I honestly feel like the toxic masculinity thing is just a psyop to gaslight women so that they hate regular men for trivial stuff like manspresding and dont look at the top. This happened with racism when the poor blacks and whites were getting together to overthrow the ownerclass.
