One survival tactic she used was pretending to fall for his ploys while planning her escape, basically pretending to be different and his partner in crime as if she was falling in love with him. You gotta do that with narcissists so they don’t realize you’re going to leave them. Pretend like everything is normal while you get your stuff together behind their back to leave.

The movie itself made me nauseous and sick. 🤢😳 That’s a personal preference as I don’t have the stomach for gore especially not gratuitous violence against women. Still horrified. But if the commentary is that men eat women alive in the dating world it hit that mark. 🤣 I love that it ended with a “u up?” text from Chad and that the first guy’s name was Chad. Modern dating definitely is a horror show in more ways than one!

okay... so I got this movie and the very beginning describes perfectly what women go through on the dating scene.

I'm only 30 minutes in and I already spotted these red flags:

comes onto her like a creep and asks for her number while playing the 3 days waiting game
from that it goes straight to a date, resulting in her not even having the necessary tools to vet him (he could very well be a serial killer)
goes on a drink date with him, ingests alcohol
goes to her place, ends up having sex with him without properly vetting
next day they are at her place eating and he proposes they go away "somewhere"
is cautious about her friend and "casually" asks what this friend knows about him. the friend is the only voice of reason so far

so in short, a lot of charisma love bombing, not giving her time to vet, moving really fast in the hopes of getting her isolated and alone with him. 30 minutes in and she hasn't vetted him, she hasn't been to his place, hasn't seen his friends, his family and goes to an unknown destination with him.

I also wanted to mention that the beginning scene functions as a means to errode Noa's confidence in her dating abilities. Too many bad dates and your're prone to meet someone even worse. Matthew effect applies here. The new dude benefits from the bad behavior of her previous dates. He knows how to play the field and how to maintain a mask long enough to get her isolated and vulnerable. After scarf guy asked her to go 50-50 with cash, talked about his digestive issues at dinner, took her plate and scooped the rest of the food in a box for later, behaved like a jerk to the Chinese server and then called her a bltch when she rejected him (politely, I may add), Noa was bound to feel deflated and vulnerable to the narcissistic charisma of the new guy.
