My first instinct was that his attack on Chris Rock was performative. He is always bringing attention to his marriage and his wife in very contradictory ways. Something's up with that.

The apology is something a publicist put together and is highly inauthentic.

Everything about the situation was trashy and embarrassing. We got some solid memes though, and honestly that’s the best I’ll hope for from some smug, elitist, self-indulgent narc-fest like the Oscars.

I think this whole thing was manufactured for publicity. It's nice that an apology was given, but Will Smith laughed at the joke. And, maybe, just maybe, were his actions supposed to show that he is dedicated to his marriage? His open marriage? I don't know. There's something off about this whole thing. My social media is full of people who don't watch the Oscars but apparently have an opinion about this.

In my opinion, high value men and women do not physically strike other people PERIOD. The only instance where it’s warranted is in self defense.

Still LV and the actual apology is only the first half, and the easier one at that. The remainder is changed behavior and no reoccurrence.

Also notice he mentions nothing about his wife beyond her medical condition. He thinks of her as his property to be defended. What about her feelings about the comments made about her medical condition, and her feelings about Will Smith's reaction?

Making a sincere apology and not blaming others for mistakes is high value behavior. I’m glad to see this apology. I was surprised to see FDS queens defending a man “protecting his woman” through violence.
