I would say this totally depends on your financial situation. If you can manage going to college full time with a night job and without racking up too much debt, I'd say definitely go for the full college experience. If you would be amassing huge debts I would not think it'd be worth it. College is awesome, fun as hell, but graduating with $50-$100k in debt will be a gigantic setback for the next few decades at least.

I would take the opportunity to work. I got a few interviews because the recruiters liked that I successfully worked and studied. Setting yourself apart from the herd outta a good thing.

Work part time. Never put a job before school. You'll fall behind. Go to class in the day and work in the evenings or at night or weekends.

A common misconception is that your degree will help you land a job.

This is true; however, it will not help you land a good job if you do not have any experience backing your degree.

Focus on school, work part time, find out if your school has a work-study program, or volunteer somewhere. All will give you experience.

My suggestion is to find some part-time work while going to school, and to have a schedule you stick to. More importantly, once you start focusing on your major, apply for every single (paid) internship you can find. Not only are you getting paid to learn, it's also incredibly valuable experience that'll get you a job in your field after (or before!) graduation.

And for the record, I do not recommend having a 7AM class along 4 others, working 4PM-1AM four days a week, and having a 45 minute commute from work to home. I did that for a semester and burned out horribly, grades suffered, almost crashed my vehicle from sleep deprivation at least twice, etc.

Have you thought about completing 2 years in the CC and transferring to a 4 year school? You will get the "college experience" then. It will be a little different and shorter but after two years of CC you'll probably be able to get into a much better school and with only 2 years of tuition to pay, you'll be in less debt.

I would recommend working during the summers/weekends (if schedule allows), then transfer to a 4yr university after your 2 yrs are up at the CC. I'm going to be real with you here, first year college students (assuming you're 18-19) aren't going to be able to land some full time job in most cases, so that's kind of stupid to look for given the circumstances.

If you're wanting to join clubs, just show up to a meeting one day, the idea of you not being able to join due to a missed registration date is BS.

This is tricky.

Experience is ALWAYS better than education.

However if your job is related to the degree, like in the same field, then I would stick with both and maybe work part time. If your degree is in STEM, tell your boss the priority for you is finishing school.

Get practice setting boundaries now.
