In contrast, I met guys who were regular guys in other countries, the standards where, "Don't be a drunk, have a job, be a decent guy." There's many guys that i know who have girlfriends and are average guys at best.

This describes most of the people I know, but my social circles are mostly working class/lower middle class. The "standards" you listed (with the exception of the motorcycle thing which is kind of left field) seem to be the standards of upper middle class, educated white women. No woman I know gives a shit if a guy knows mixology or speaks multiple languages.

So if this is your experience, my guess is that your social circle in the US is largely upper middle class/educated/urban/white, and you met people of more varied backgrounds overseas.

Edit: Also, the you said these are "standards" but you also mention that these are the traits of the top guys on dating apps. Of course the top guys are going to be exceptional, that's what makes them the top. That doesn't mean it's a baseline "standard" for most women.

Because if you don't want kids youre less likely to settle for someone that doesn't make your happier

And If you don't need a men to support you financially youre less likely to settle for someone that doesn't make you happy

It's not that women from poor countries have lower standards, it's they they pretty much have to take what they have while women in developed countries with the means to support themselves can just stay single if nobody interests them

I think it depends on the question being asked. Are they asking women "what kinds of things make you attracted to a man?", or "what kinds of things must a man have for you to consider them as a partner?".

If it's the second question, I agree it's ridiculously high standards. But if it's the first question, it's essentially asking a woman to describe an imaginary ideal man. So of course it's a ton of hard to achieve positive characteristics, because no one is going to deny that's attractive.

It would be weird if you asked a woman to describe things that were attractive to her and she simply said "don't be a drunk, don't be homeless, don't be ugly". Like ofc, that's the bare minimum. That's not going to be the absolute ideal.

"Top Guy" describes the absolute win for woman. If we flip perspectives, I sincerely doubt the 'Top woman' is just some "not ugly" chick, who's extremely bland, doesn't really have much of a sense for fashion, has a very average figure, etc. It just wouldn't make sense.

I have no idea what females are looking for (they don’t confide in me) but I’ve never heard of moonlighting as a barkeep as desirable. Besides, you don’t need to be a barkeep to pour a shot. It seems to be one of the more self-explanatory pours. Also, the motorcycle one may be true (what do I know?) but bikers aren’t known to have really desirable wives or girlfriends from what I’ve seen.

Why is this a CMV? Also who cares. Men aren't marrying these women so it's there's clearly a cause and effect going on right now.

Why are the standards so high? Because life is easy. When life inevitably becomes hard, most women's standards will fall. The interesting wrinkle will be what happens when the guys, who've been rejected all this time, see this coming and refuse to acquiesce?

Inflation/oil is surging. I'm glad I'm not married and my expenses have been low all this time.
