Hello everyone,

I was talking with a friend as to why many behaviors that in some cultures would be consider normal. For instance, public displays of affection, directly expressing your feelings, or "sentimental gestures" like buying flowers or texting frequently. Would be considered "weird," "clingy" "needy" or "creepy" "Cringe" in an American or British context.

According to my friend he believes that American and British culture practices a kind of "avoidant attachment style" of relationships where people are taught to give mixed signals about their true feelings and a strong desire to not want to be "emotionally vulnerable."

What do you think about his thoughts?
