In today’s society, a promiscuous man is an achievement. It means that you show enough value (like social skills, money, status, or looks, etc.) for woman to find you attractive to hook up with. Therefore it makes sense for woman to be attracted to these people as well (as opposed to virgins who are unable to get laid). It makes complete sense for a man to strive to be promiscuous in today’s “open sex” society where both genders are free to have casual sex.

However, in a ideal world where promiscuity is not promoted and successful marriage is instead the priority, it makes sense for both genders to refrain from it. The stats show that likelihood of marriage/relationship success continuously decreases with the more “baggage” a partner comes with (makes sense because of comparisons to previous partners). While I do acknowledge it can have a much greater effect for women considering how much more emotional sex is for them, it also should be practiced by men so that they can increase the likelihood that they are sexually satisfied with their partner.
