I was actually just learning about this (it came up on my feed and I thought it was interesting). Basically what was said was when a man says negative things about a woman's appearance (unprovoked) he's doing it because he doesn't feel worthy of her and by saying these nasty things he's basically rejecting her before she can reject him or he's actually super attracted to her but her appearance is not one of objective beauty so he says mean things to try and convince others (and himself!) that he doesn't like her so he can "fit in."

I agree it is a massive turn off when men comment on women's appearance in a negative/disrespectful way. But at least know that 99% of the time it is rooted in his own insecurities and has nothing to do with the woman.

Also reminds me of a quote I heard in this sub awhile ago - "Being pretty is not the rent women must pay to exist in society" - women deserve to be allowed to exist without men's approval of our appearance or anything else we do/don't do. Just leave us alone and keep your comments to yourself!

One of my favorite takeaways from FDS has been to watch and listen closely to how a man talks about other women in front of you. All women, even the most blind pickmes, can agree that your man drooling over or complimenting another woman right in front of you is messed up, but many will look the other way when a man insults women. His meanness can and will be used against you. It’s a matter of time.

I just broke things off with a man like that. He would comment on random women, calling them “fat cows” and “straight up m’fugly.” He was great to me most of the time. Gentlemanly, picked up the tab, very complimentary. But FDS was once again proven right when he said two things to me: first that I was “too manly and independent” (I manage my own finances and I’m very fit) and, since he didn’t know my age, commented that women over 30 are low value (I’m over 30). I knew if I let it go on, soon I’d be the ugly and worthless one to him. NO THANKS. ☮️

I left it out because it is not an FDS type show and I like to watch this type of show when I am doing housework as background noise. The Millionaire matchmaker.

My boyfriends comments on the show were things such as

Boyfriend "If that man wants a family and a stable home, why is he picking her for his date?" (Refering to a party girl)

Me "because he thinks she's hot"

Boyfriend "typical"

If my ex came in the room while the show was on...

Ex "ew are you watching that abrasive donkey woman?"

Me "you can change it, it's just background entertainment"

Ex "what is entertaining about that ugly ***, her voice makes me want to punch something"

Me "so change it"

Ex "that other girl has nice tits"
