The manosphere loves to paint the “traditional housewives” of the 50-60’s, as happy, feminine and fulfilled and the modern child-free, sad, plant mom as unfulfilled, depressed and jaded.

The truth is, these women from the 50-60s are your mothers and grandmothers. They still exist. Talk to them.

What you will find that many of them urged their daughters to get a good education and get the necessary skill set to be independent. You will hear them lament about the freedom and experiences they never got to have.

Many of them are riddled with regret, trauma, divorce problems, a myriad of personality disorders and mental illnesses that they haven’t gotten diagnosed on.

Why is that? Because many women of that era who WANTED to be independent, didn’t have that option and lived compliant, unfulfilled lives. Of course, there were happy housewives back then- as well as in modern times.

The big thing is women have an actual CHOICE now. They have a choice to be independent, and they also have a choice to be in a traditional domestic family.

I think the stereotypical “sad single post-wall dog mom” isn’t a result of “women rejecting what they’re biologically made for and therefore being unfulfilled.”

The truth is that humans are complicated, some people will be sad and unhappy whether they’re single or married.
