I’m a black female and it 100% would be. White people don’t realize how privileged they are. I have a masters degree, slim, take care of myself, mid 20s and most guys don’t look my way simply because I am black. Data shows I’m at the very bottom of the dating pole because of the color of my skin.

Companies are desperate for workers right now, so don't let that get you down. Especially in the IT sector, we can't seem to find enough qualified people. Also, many women like dark men, I see white women with black men here a lot in Florida for example

Cant speak for the last two but as for job applications I would go to interview after interview and would be rejected each and every time the only reason I have the current job I do is because I had a contact on the inside and I'm white so yeah your color has nothing to do with it because the way the job market works not what you look like its who you know

I mean, that's sort of a truth of systemic racism. I both hope you can live the life you want to live and acknowledge that dealing with that is going to be a challenge both on the face of it with each individual incident, and also in the bigger picture that it's probably exhausting to have the expectation of further bad experiences ahead. Hopefully most of us here are doing some kind of work to try to improve things, but at the same time, I don't think the realistic assumption is that racism is completely going away in our lifetimes.

It sounds like maybe you're facing a developmental step that a lot of POC experience in the US of realizing that sometimes your racial identity is going to shape what you experience in your life. There are academic models around this kind of thing (https://www.mccc.edu/pdf/cmn214/Class%203/Racial%20identity%20development.pdf) for example - I'm not sure how helpful they are on their own, but it's at least an example that people face this stuff often enough that there are other people out there who have spent their working lives thinking about how that process happens and writing about it.

Let us know how we can help you out with it. I respect you bringing it up here as I do think it fits the sub's broader theme of becoming more comfortable with who you are, including circumstances that don't feel fair.
