The funny thing about this comment is that every mother I've known personally wants to be worshiped on Mother's Day. They want you to make a fuss over them, they want shiny pretty things! The reverse is that every father I've known on Father's day wants to sit down and have a quiet day of watching TV!

[–]regularcomments 38 points39 points40 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

That's thanks to advertising. Mother's day along with Christmas and (recently) pride month are the most money-grossing campaigns for companies.

It's not until recent years that companies are probably becoming more aware of how much money they can make if they also start to do bigger campaigns for fathers too , but they are still giving baby steps on that.

My Question: Why Isn't there a men's history month but there is a day, not a month...

[–]Vallahaiye -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Because in the past men did have most advantages over women and we're consistently far more successful than women. In the past. An appreciation holiday would make more sense but a history month would be simply pointless.

[–]_Arch_Angel_ 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I’m fascinated by this, do you have a link to any stats?

[–]FastidiousFalcon 118 points119 points120 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Another reason our society stinks, is rotten to the core now.

Saw a study where 70% of the ‘mass shooters’ were raised in broken homes, fatherless, including the last one in Texas.

Need to embrace fathers and men, incentivize keeping the family unit intact, build-up men and stop demonizing male masculinity!

[–]Yowilkat 30 points31 points32 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Its not just mass shooters, its most of the prison population and insane people (of which there is significant overlap)

[–]Ferbuggity 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This! And where intact family units are unfeasible, let's find ways to promote and support equal parenting time and responsibility, ways to take the bitterness off divorces, and masculine-positive male role models for fatherless male children (screened hard for pedo content).

I'm not sure though whether the mass shooters were more affected by living in a single mother home, than affected by the reasons the marriage isn't intact in the first place. Exposure to domestic violence, etc, causes indelible damage to kids. And there's a vast majority of fine young men raised by one parent.

Tradcons were right about the nuclear family. Tradcons were right about a lot of things.

Parental alienation is a real thing and has long lasting consequences.

[–]Virtual-Reporter2173 13 points14 points15 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If only People knew the affects it has on the children here is a good read I came across. https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/head-games/202112/the-devastating-effect-parental-alienation-children?utm_source=FacebookPost&utm_medium=FBPost&utm_campaign=FBPost&fbclid=IwAR35fimC5Yk05p8f-ik-QmNVxPH5BKdywzslw20UxfK_QE7H7-rpMyw8z5A

It surely is, but not all separated couples have weaponised the situation. And there's situations where there's no dad at all. I was raised by an insane single mother, widowed young, and a much saner widowed grandmother later on, and the difference was like night and day. I was a much more stable kid with a woman who wasn't a selfish nutter. It's entirely possible for a single parent to raise a healthy balanced child -- it's just a lot more work than a lot of selfish lazy people or people overwhelmed with their own problems are willing and able to put in.

[–]OldEgalitarianMRA 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Sorry to hear about the death of your father and I'm glad you got over it. But imagine if your father had lived and you had a normal, which is good, relationship with him. You would love him like you do your mother.

Now imagine you as a child going through divorce. And your mother or father decides they hate the other and insist you share their feelings. It's very common. I'd say it's more common than not that a mother is jealous of a better relationship with fathers than themselves.

The process of turning the kids away from the children is emotional abuse. It destroys families and damages child for life.

This is what I am talking about. I'm glad you were spared that. But our confrontational fight for custody must stop in favor of shared 50/50 custody.

Then you might not have had to move to your nans, although she seems like a good parent.

[–]Ferbuggity 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, not at all arguing against things being made more fair for fathers during custody disputes, my support of that is part of why I'm here. What I was trying to say, in response to this comment:

Saw a study where 70% of the ‘mass shooters’ were raised in broken homes, fatherless, including the last one in Texas.

.. was that these homes being broken and fatherless is only one small part of the horrible equation that ends up equalling a mass murderer. It's disingenuous to plonk a statistic like that down and point to it as a cause, because there's actually a bunch of other factors at play. For example, more violent kids come from violent homes, and not all single parent families are violent. Violent, abusive parents are actually better off out of the picture, if you want to look at causative issues for childhood mental and emotional trauma, let alone physical injury, and how many single mums are single because their feller turned out a right monster and they've had to leave? Not all, but they too factor into the number of single parent families. And in those cases, it's far more likely that prior and repeated exposure to familial domestic violence is a cause of a kid going haywire, than the fact their mum {or indeed dad} had the good sense to get out and live a better life. Mental illness, poverty and being bullied in school are also very high on the list of factors conveniently left out.

Put another way, I'm annoyed by this "statistic" because it's precisely the same kind argumentative ploy used by woo feminists when they want cherry pick a number to shore up their own lopsided beliefs, in absolute wilful ignorance of the fact that there is much, much more to it than their "statistic" would suggest.

And yes, thank you, my old nan was lovely and quite literally saved my life, by becoming a single parent to me. And I turned out alright, innit. :)

[–]xTheVyrusx 32 points33 points34 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Just shows how much she needs a two parent household having a one side narrative. Her mom must be just as angry and ignorant as she is.

[–]regularcomments 15 points16 points17 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

And then they ask why is there so much crime and kids that become damaged adults.

[–]Puzzleheaded-Heat174 15 points16 points17 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I have seen this argument a lot and not only did the mainstream not call these feminists out but they actively sided with them I can imagine how they would cover the story if the roles were reversed

Toxic misogynists nazi right-wing scum protests to cancel mothers day I can't believe the amount of sexism that is on display here can you?

Absolute fucking scum

[–]DoomNukemBlood3D 12 points13 points14 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Just because her dad either died or left, does not mean other fathers should have to suffer for it.

[–]drakenpage222 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Let's cancel woman's history month then, fair is fair.

[–]Critical_Dot_9016 14 points15 points16 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Looking at her profile photo, I'm guessing she lacked a father figure or didn't have a great one. She's just a bitter crybaby who's words don't matter. I'll raise this mega pint to all the great father's out there.

[–]alclarkey 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Who is this person, and why do any of us here give two flying fucks about what she has to say?

[–]StingRayFins 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Also sad that women are privileged enough to blatantly say stuff like that with little to no consequences because they can't respect the same for men and are blinded by their privilege.

A man saying mothers day is a joke will be fking destroyed and met with 100x the anger and shame.

It's a misandric world disguised as an "oppressive patriarchy"

[–]rosewiththornzzz 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I’m giving my dad his gist for my wedding on Father’s Day…now he may not have always been the best father, but he’s my dad and I love him and he’s walking me down the aisle come 3 months. This is just such a sad statement. Way to make all the fathers out there feel appreciated little missy

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

We need two father’s days.

[–]needalife94 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So because she has experienced a fatherless home , all the good hard working fathers shouldn't get a day now ? Now that is a joke .......

[–]Mystic_Submissive 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Feminism is such a joke. Can't we name feminism misandry? Last time I checked it's nothing but a man hating nightmare promoting female supremacy.
