In NH btw. No kids or property. Married 6 years seperated 3 months ago. My main question is do I need a lawyer? We originally agreed on an even split of everything. She moved out into a friends. I took over all bills and she only paid her car payment for 4 months. We had a slight disagreement on furniture. I told her to take anything she wanted from the apartment(I picked out nothing) She didn't want to move it. I told her to sell it and she said she didnt have time. I said I didn't have time either. She was working 20 hours a week as a nurse while she continued nursing school. I was working 45 hours a week while I am in engineering school. Will I be responsible for paying out of the furniture? Will it be retail or resale? She said she spent 6000 for the furniture. Can I request receipts? She's taking multiple things from the house as well that add up: vacuum, tv, all decorations, both of our coolers, her laptop. Equalling several grand. Not to mention her wardrobe which is worth several thousand. I have a couple grand invested in crypto as well. When we seperated she told me I could keep it. I let her have 500 in savings and the grand in the joint account. Recently found out 401ks can be taken even if marriage is under 10 years. I took out a 401k loan 3 months ago to pay my half of our joint debt. Will my total retirement accrued be before the loan or total at the hearing date. She has retirement as well. I am not sure how much though. Everything has been amicable with no problems so far. Her best friend is going through a divorce and is being ruthless. I am worried this will change my stbxw perspective. I just want to be proactive. I will literally pay a lawyer 5 grand over paying her 1 grand.
