My plan was to press charges before filing for divorce and get a TRO. the point is that my wife has a history of causing people and I am afraid she will accuse me of abuse to gain leverage. Even though she is asking for an agreement outside the court, she is asking for way too much.

My evidence of abuse is a few abusive text messages, bruises, and audio recordings of her apologizing for hitting me. a video of her attacking me. She has nothing.

I know if I press charges, she will do the same because I abused her and did some atrocities. she doesn't have any evidence as nothing of that occurred. I am worried if she accuses me I will get into hot water and lose my job and will struggle to get myself off the mud. Our Justice system seems skewed towards women, unfortunately.

Should I still go ahead with charges or back off?

I met with a lawyer, and I felt I wasn't given good advice, as she told me to find a new place and leave. I feel like lawyers like the case to get complicated or something so they can make more $$$.

What do you all think? those who were accused of DV without proof, did it affect your records? should I not file charges even though I have proof?
