Google search trends point out Men's rights activism is more prevalent in blue states, than red states, yet the running trope of MRAs being angry reactionaries continues to defame our image, how do you feel about this?

Amongst my social circle, it does seem that more people on the left are open to challenging certain cultural norms, around imprisonment and genital mutilation for example, but they also seem very reluctant to stop identifying as feminist, so it's difficult to find out where they draw the line.

It would be nice to see that human rights became a non partisan issue, but none of the mainstream parties anywhere in the English speaking world can dare risk losing the support of mainstream capitalist feminism, so I can't see widespread support for male advocacy coming from either end of the political spectrum.

They think we're reactionaries because they only see us when we're calling them out for terrible takes. They don't see the proactive communities we have like this one.

The fact that there are more searches from blue states doesn't necessarily mean that the people performing those searches are themselves left-leaning. The state that cast the most votes for Trump was California.

Not saying you're wrong about people with progressive politics caring about gender equality; we're on a forum for that very thing--but it's always important not to presume your data implies X when Y is no less plausible.

It’s honestly not surprising the places where misandry is most accepted & promoted also has the most pushback against said misandry. As others have pointed out also, feminist groups don’t have the most interest in honesty & accuracy.

There was a poll on reddit on /r/MensRights and 60% self-identified as left wing leaning.

Which makes sense because if you are advocating for justice for an unpopular group, you are by default left-wing!

It actually makes perfect sense. The conservative/right wing point of view would be that they don't need something like MRA. They could never admit to having problems because that would be admitting weakness and they're an "alpha male" who doesn't have any. Any problem MRA would seek to address their ideology would somehow turn into a positive. Expected to be provide/protect? Oh well that just makes me a "real man". Etc.

Of course the problem is that American politics are becoming so extremist and polarizing at this point that anything even slightly more towards the center than "radical SJW micro aggression safe space left" gets labelled conservative. It's not actually about liberalism vs. conservatism anymore. The "left" is no longer liberal.
