Here's the thing that pisses me off about this: I'm a power-lifter. I'm pretty physically capable. I'm just not much of a runner. Based on what I know about military standards, I could pass on nearly every front, except running. I'm also fairly intelligent. All of this combined wouldn't qualify me for a support role in backend logistics. But on the other hand, women get reduced requirements across the board and are thus eligible for every position by official US rules.

They have been this way forever.

Look at pushup standards, mile run standards across the branches.

Women can generally run 20% slower and do 30-50% the number of pushups and achieve the same score.

It's actually broken down further into age categories as well. For most jobs, it's not really all that applicable how many push ups you can do anyways.

You either water down the tests to the lowest level score, or you simply score different people differently.

Tbh, all wars now are button and drone wars. Other than some special forces teams, you don’t really need boots on the ground unless you’re trying to take territory, and what’s the point of that these days?

Not sure how the transgenders will be judged. Poorly I assume.

I’m fine with lower standard women doing…whatever they do. Just don’t prioritize them in any way compared to men when the bodies start falling.

And charge them with desertion for getting pregnant. As that’s just desertion from duty by intentional fraud.

The new army PT test was problematic from the start. For the most part, I enjoy it, but you need to train hard if you want to excel at it. That by itself is fine. I know that most in the Reserve and Guard are only doing the minimum work to pass, if that.

But for those of us wanting to score as high as we can it’s more like a competitive multiplayer online game with micro transactions. Paying for better training, gym memberships, CrossFit, supplements, etc. all costs more than the average Soldier can do time or money wise. Whereas with the previous test, all you needed to practice were push-ups, sit-ups, and the 2 mile run. Anyone can train for that anywhere. No so much with the new test and it’s requirements for extra gear.

It will be interesting to see the data on passing/fail rates over the next 2 years across all components.
