I have a friend working at a large bank. The CEO is a woman and she passed a rule saying 50% of the workforce should be women. So they interview male candidates too but that’s just for formality. Eventually the male candidate doesn’t hear back and just ends up wasting his time and effort. It’s just sad what has been happening in these past few years

Almost every job I apply to now will have a question section asking how I make minorities and women feel welcome or how do I include otherwise under represented groups in discussions.

I work for local government. There are programs and groups for women to get exposure to management training and like a kinda internship program where groups of women will mentor with the higher ups. Bi weekly meetings for the cultural awareness and how to not be skin color bias or make women feel bad. Meanwhile I am one of the only men on the team. My coworkers are 5 women and 1 other man. Our boss is a woman. Her boss is a woman. Her boss is a woman. Her boss is a man. His boss is a woman. It’s like I think women are already running everything in the department.

If I ask for help or say this doesn’t make sense I get accosted and my review is like want-to-say-this isn’t a team player and is slow to change.

Look at social work. A LOT are women, but no one is saying "well Men should be a higher percentage!"

Because the argument with that is "Well men are usually the atrackers or rapists so them in social work is bad!" (I took a social work class, and have talked to a few 😂 it isnt what they said like...5 years ago but I can see it as an argument)

Or early elementary teachers. Most are women.

I hate the fact that it's okay to say "oh well women should be in things like STEM!"

OKAY, why are they not going into it? "Its too hard!" Thats the point. Im doing Computer Science. Its hard, it's not an art class. "Well there is stigma!" I've had no issue in the 3 colleges i went to for CS. The only weird time was when I was in a class of 12, and me and the teacher were thr only women. Had no issues. Teacher never mentioned any issues.

The arguments are dumb. 😂 and can be brought down but you know "misogyny"

Why doesn’t anyone ever say we need more women in roofing? Why is it always engineering (that they opt out of in both school and career) or CEO (which has demands/hours that aren’t compatible with being present for a family)?

My fiancé and her sister are both recruiters. She quit her job in education because it paid nothing and she was the director of education. I’m talking less than $50k a year. Plus she had a long commute.

Me on the other hand am a retention NCO in the Army. Most of us are dudes.

I have a job opening in a very male dominated industry. HR lady just casually asked me if I thought it would be a good idea hire a female since I only have one in my department. She was visibly frustrated when i said i hire based on experience and interview performance and that anything else would be a violation of federal law. She already doesn't like me for pointing out the very sexist nature of her sexual harassment training videos.

Vast majority of recruiters I've worked with were women too. If we're not biased (and we could check some statistics to be sure, LinkedIn looks like a good place to look) - then most people responsible for the gender ratio at the workplace are women.

It doesn't mean anything to me - "HR is HR, candidate is candidate, rejection is rejection", no matter what gender they are. But feminists tend to actively not care if you are the same gender as the person who hurts you, so I guess after seeing the statistics (if we're not biased) any feminist should immediately shut up about not having enough women in STEM.

I know this is a little different, but I’ve already been contacted to become a “recruiter” at my d-1 university even though I’m in high school. I’m a woman. Some colleges specifically reach out to athletic/attractive women to essentially be intensive tour guides for high level recruits like athletes. This has nothing to do with diversity and inclusion. Rather, it’s a ploy to appeal to male sensibilities.

My friend is a recruiter for Google. Her manager has repeatedly told her not to hire white or asian men. These companies hate you if your skin color is a certain color.

I am interviewing now for a new job, it's about 80% women not only doing the recruiting, also the hiring managers. Kind of hard to buy into the whole women don't lead in the corporate world stuff when 4 out of 5 hiring managers are women. Not that I mind, granted there is a very noticeable difference in respecting my time as a candidate with men and women, but it's getting annoying to hear so many complaints while in the real world women are doing more than fine.

Another good reason not to use them. Ask them what their cut is sometime.

Pro tip: When they post the job description to you with the company's name cut out, you can usually find the original posting by simply googling the job description they copy-and-pasted from the original employer's posting.

Just go around them. It literally takes 3 keystrokes.

Now you have an immediate bargaining advantage if you want that job because the employer is not obligated to pay you the cut they'd normally waste on the recruiter. You can split the difference with the actual employer and completely shit on the worthless trash that makes up the recruitment industry, and it seriously only takes one internet search and a politely worded email to the hiring manager.

I feel you bro.

I work in education, which is globally a female dominated industry. However, my school goes out of the way to be more inclusive to women in hiring. It doesn't make sense.

The sad thing is how few male role models the boys in our schools have. Female teachers have a bias towards girls and boys are demonised for just expressing their masculinity. We need more men in schools.

I am a male recruiter and I can confirm at my last job it was mostly women.. and unfortunately was treated worse than my peer, we had the same level of performance and I worked more than her.

However, I’m in my new role and I’m loving it! My boss is a man this time lol and my team is about a 50/50 split.

The Sisterhood Uber Alles(sisterhood above all else). Good thing I identify as a woman now because I'm getting all kinds of scholarships in tech. I'm 70% more likely to be called for an interview. I'm 80% more likely to get paid more and promoted. Less likely to be convicted or serve jail time. It's awesome!
