If only MacKinnon was just some obscure Tumblr radfem that we could either ignore or laugh at. Unfortunately, that's not the case. By some mistake of nature, she's an extremely influential legal scholar (the 40th most cited of all time!). In Canada, she even managed to directly influence changes to our sexual assault laws back in 1992. It is incredibly sadly ironic that a woman who rejects the entire concept of sexual consent would contribute to changing an entire country's law on sexual consent. MacKinnon actually praises Canada's law in footnotes 40 and 67 of that essay. Not surprising given that she possibly drafted parts of it herself.

You're correct in saying that MacKinnon is an insufferable sexist against both men and women. In her world, pretty much all men are guilty of "rape." We "deploy" our gender simply by being sexual creatures (all existing sexuality is socially constructed by patriarchy in MacKinnon's mind). Unfortunately, nowhere near enough people are bothered by such blatant sexism against men. If there were, MacKinnon would have never gotten this far.

That's why it's especially important for more women to speak out against her blatant sexism against women because that's sadly the only kind that rings alarm bells. Perhaps it's "benevolent" sexism against women, but it's still sexism of the sort that should be extremely offensive to any woman. In essence, she wants the principle underlying statutory rape laws, i.e. that minors lack the legal capacity to consent, to include both women and children. Similar to how coercion is presumed when an adult has sex with a minor, coercion would be presumed when a man has sex with a woman. A woman's consent, regardless of how affirmatively or enthusiastically it was given, would be disregarded like a child's, because she would be deemed to lack the necessary mental capacity, having been too brainwashed by the patriarchy to consent. Dear women, are you really going to put up with such insulting, deranged, and sexist nonsense?

It is always... surprising to see how sexists and misogynistic radical feminists can be, especially about people who disagree with them. Their misandry is usually a given, especially for radfems, but the misogyny is quite telling too.

I have not read this, but I would say if women have so few agency and capacity to make decisions, why do we allow them to write pieces like this or even work? This seems to come straight out of a "women are children" kind of mindset.

Boeing CH-47 Chinook. I find that I need the dual-rotor lifting power because my gender is so oppressive. The VTOL capability allows for vertical insertion just about anywhere, and I have the option to deploy via the side doors, rear cargo ramp, or even carry it underneath by crane.

I genuinely feel sorry for women like you right now, who are awake to all the faults of modern radical feminism. The big political movement that claims to represent you and is widely respected by all, yet it actually perpetuates more sexist views and backwards regression against women than anything else due to that very same blind popularity.

At least when redpillers and tradcons say misogynist shit, people ridicule it. But when radfems do it, everyone eats it right up. I used to laugh at people who feared Handmaids Tale could come true one day, but now I don't think its that unrealistic. Its just not going to come from the auth right, but the auth left.

After all, if women can't consent to sex, why can't they consent to other things? Maybe women can't consent to buying groceries and handling other adult responsibilities. Maybe we shouldn't bother to teach them to read, since they might read something a big mean nasty man wrote that corrupts their pure, fragile minds. Maybe they should have a male escort everywhere, since they're so weak and might get easily hurt by all the big nasty men everywhere. /s

Not to downplay how offensive this is to men as well, since it implies we're all monsters, but at least that's not being framed as something that is actually supposed to help us. Evil can be fought when its out in the open, but its much harder when its disguised as good.

EDIT: I wouldn't be surprised if Catharine MacKinnon was secretly married, lives like a submissive 1950's housewife, and asks her husband how she should vote. At least then it would make sense why she wants to undermine feminism with conservative values.

This is basically all of the undergirding of campus Title IX stuff, like women should be free and all but then if they make a bad decision or a regrettable decision when it comes to relationships and sex its always the supposed perpetrators fault.

They never realize how an accuser could have ulterior motives or issues of their own or that they do have some responsibility and choices. (I’m not talking about full on rape) I know some of this from my own experience and what I’ve heard about other TIX cases

Definitely, MacKinnon was made Special Adviser on Gender Crimes to the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court in 2008. Her role was to provide strategic advice to the Prosecutor on sexual and gender violence under Article 42(9) of the Rome Statute.

Under MacKinnon, ICC prosecution policies were developed that explicitly excluded male victims. Rape, forcible rape and sexual assault, forced circumcision, and sexual torture of men and boys were not considered "sexual and gender based violence", instead these acts were categorised "other violence" and not prosecuted under the Rome Statute even though there were many attempts to do so.

Things have slowly changed and the first case of sexual and gender based violence against men and boys was accepted for prosecution by the ICC in 2021 - "Gender-based Persecution against Men: the ICC’s Abd-al-Rahman Case".

Last week’s hearing in the Abd-al-Rahman case, one of the ICC’s long-awaited ‘Sudan’ cases, marks a step forward in the Court’s practice in prosecuting gender-based crimes. It is the first ICC case in which crimes committed exclusively against men and boys have been expressly charged as gender-based crimes (specifically, as persecution on intersecting political, ethnic and gender grounds).

It's a start, but what perplexes me is why excluding male victims of sexual and gender based violence by the ICC was ever seen as being acceptable in the first place.
