I've always said that looks are what initially draws someone to a partner. You cannot initially be attracted to someone's personality. If you don't find someone attractive, you won't approach them to see their personality in the first place. It would be extremely rare - and I've literally never heard of - someone falling for a partner they're not attracted to.

As a general rule, guys here who cry "only X,Y,Z matter to women" feel that way because they believe a) they lack X,Y,Z, but b) DO possess other good traits.
The truth is more often that they lack plenty of other attractive traits as well, not just X,Y,Z, but are in denial about it.

Getting the date is about how you sell yourself when they don't know you. Dating is convincing them of yourself by letting them get to know you. I'd say these are VERY different. Dating is all that follows after they says yes to the date.
