Hundreds of men already go to jail. It doesn't change the public's perception of the situation. Rather, it seems to reinforce the "deadbeat" attitude.

I don't see how going to jail on purpose would be a productive step toward improving your situation, or that of other men.

I'd much rather you have a plan to get out ahead of time, and you take steps to make the plan so real, all you have to do is pull the trigger on it.

Research the countries that don't have mutual child-support enforcement/collection. Post the list here. Research them further to find ones that you would be willing to live in. Begin establishing connections and ties to that community, so that you can not only gain entry, but remain in that nation if necessary.

The actual process of running to another country, and staying out of your native country is actually rather difficult unless you have a plan, or can do so in a way that lets the nation grant you refuge in exchange for getting one up on a competitor on the national stage. Political refugees are a kind of advertising on the national level. How good of an advertisement would a man evading child support be?

I'd rather not find myself in prison but specifically for the scenario you cited above that is most probably where I would be. How some people can deny someone a basic human right while above all demanding it for themselves is beyond my comprehension.

Equal rights for me are an on/off switch. It either is or it isn't. While I am open to the intelligent thoughts of others on the matter these inputs are generally just static designed to disguise inequality, an inequality that generally can't be perceived because of social conditioning, nil experience or other factors.

Equality to my mind must always be reduced to it's most simple formula. Is person A allowed to do this? Is person B allowed to do this? All other factors such as race/religion/gender are static and are to be largely ignored.

Going back to the prison possibility. I wouldn't want to be there but I'd be doing good being there because it costs society a fortune in the "civilised" world to incarcerate someone. Around £64,000 for the first year and £40,000 for any year that follows, which is more than three times the annual wage I have ever earned. I would draw much comfort from that. Not because I am taking money away from society but because I'm taking money away from a corrupt society. So no, you can't have that government funded daycare system, you can't have those expensive life changing drugs, no you can't have better educated citizens or a better standard of living because in the first place you were a bit of a cunt.

I'm with you. If someone ever tried to corner me into some obligation that I didn't want to be a part of, I'd walk away. Leave nothing left for them to loot from me. If I could escape the country, great. If I couldn't, I would not go to prison for excercising my right to choose. I'd sooner shoot myself. In fact, that would be an option, depending on how spiteful I felt.

Prisons, jails, and cemetaries are already full of us. I think the fatherhood issue will be rectified soon by male birth control medicine. If you hand off financial responsibility to the state you will just give them the ability to take all your money instead of just some. (The feminist wet dream)

As for what I would be willing to actually suffer or even be martyred for? That would be banning Male Genital Mutilation. It is impossible for me to see a society that allows this barbarism as anything more than a two-tiered slave-state consisting of "Have rights" and "Have-not rights."

I do believe in civil disobedience, and I commend you or anyone willing to go to jail for their principles.

As /u/JoshtheAspie note and others, the jails are filled with fathers labeled as deadbeats.

So if that's your plan, and I do support that, I urge you to first find a 'media team' in your friends, family and lawyers and make sure your shit is as clean smelling as possible and you are sympathetic and young and good looking and can have a viral video made of you.

Because if a father went to jail for principles and no one heard of it that would be a loss to everyone, but especially to that father.

That said, I've thought about 3 hots and a cot, and if it was in a minimum security prison with semi reasonable heath care, hey, might be a better outcome than outsourced jobs typically give us.

It might gain more public support if it were a man who was forced to pay support for a child who isn't his either due to paternity fraud or because "it's in the best interest of the child". Or if it was a man or boy raped and forced to pay child support.

But yeah I do think if you believe in something you should be willing to do things contrary to your best interests to advance the cause.

I have no idea how I would handle the child support issue you described above given the existing law that governs me, and it would be very dependent on the circumstances.

The issue that I'd stand my ground on would be an accusation of being a predator when I am looking after a child (as a coach, teacher, or in a public place). These scenarios are extremely rare, but if anyone singled me out as a child-predator for my respectful interactions with children I'd take that fight as far as it goes and go to jail if I had to, but I'm not going to stop helping kids.

I would just leave the country. Screw prison, I have options. But otherwise, yeah probably. I'm tired of the state pushing men to take responsibility for these women and punishing men because otherwise the state would have to intervene. How about holding these women responsible? We used to do that back in the day, and there were a hell of a lot fewer single moms back then.

As much as I agree with you in parts, I find a small flaw in the principle of opting out.

Say the kid grows up without a father figure. Then who is the one to blame? As much as this could be argued, the way the society works now, the man would still come out as the douche for such a move. That unless...

Unless men be treated way more fair in cases over custody of the child. Which ain't gonna happen for a while.

So, this is what it means to be a man in the MRA? To willingly engage in a baby-making activity only to demand that we not be held responsible for our actions? To be so adamant that you'd rather go to jail than be a father to the kid you helped create? Fuck. That. Let the courts take your money. If you don't like the consequences of your actions, what does that say about your actions? I understand our rights aren't equal with women's, but this "solution" just makes society worse. Imagine being that kid (I don't know your story, maybe you don't have to imagine very hard) whose dad just up and leaves. You want the government to protect that guy? You want society to approve of his "right" to abandon you, without even so much as some financial recompense?
