A woman who had sex with a 15-year-old friend of her cousin's has walked free from court after a judge found she had been motivated by "an unmet need for love and affection".

You commonly hear people say child molesters wouldn't be interested in children if they had sex with a woman, but this is never used to excuse their behavior when talking about a male child molester. Of course, such a statement if very wrong when you study why child molesters actually molest, but that is irrelevant to seeing the double standard in place here.

The woman, who gave birth to her second child five weeks ago, would be vulnerable to mistreatment and exploitation by other prisoners if jailed and her children needed her to care for them, the judge added.

So no prison because child molesters get treated worse in prison AND because you are needed to care for some children. This isn't even a double standard anymore. It has transcended that.

So at first she thought he was of legal age, but upon finding out he wasn't she continued the behavior? I'm not going to grab a torch over her mistaking a 15-year old from a 16-year old but the fact that she continued the behavior after finding out means there is a problem that needs to be addressed with more than a little slap on the wrist. The judges ruling is rather sexist, he gave her a free pass because she's a poor weak woman popping out kids left and right.

Women getting away with crimes because they happen to have children....This is a 26 year old and not some confused 18/19 year old who doesn't know any better. This is not an example of someone getting away with a crime because of lack of evidence or rather corrupt local politicians, but a blatant display of sexism and leniency due to the fact that the perpetrator has a vagina. I am 26 myself and I could not even imagine getting in bed with a teenager let alone a 15-year old repeatedly, I would submit myself to psychological evaluation if I even considered it.

I don't know Australian child support laws but if it's anything like the US she just put a kid at risk for paying child support for 18 years because she decided statutory rape was just dandy as long as she had an emotional need!

This is actually a fair statement. Male sexual predators never have dependents that need caring for (ew, why would we let them keep their kids if they are caught fucking kids?) and are never mistreated by other inmates. In fact the male sexual predator is kind of a minor celebrity in jail. With other inmates bringing him gifts like homemade shivs and expressing interest in a sexual relationship with them.

Part of the reason why r/MR's WBB posts are so important is not that women are any worse than men, but they are just as bad. And until we all absorb that lesson, judges like the one in the article can get away with deciding, just because, not to punish them like they would a man.

Just to highlight one of the many things wrong with his statement, if the idea that a person would be vulnerable to mistreatment in prison were any reason to not send them there, them no man should be sent to prison on child molestation charges. Further, this is an admission that judges are aware of this routine mistreatment of male prisoners and choose to do nothing. If we were all living up to our duties as citizens of a free society here, we would not stop talking about the on-going, widespread rape and sexual assault of prisoners. Every time a judge had a microphone in their face they would bring it up, and every time a judge was interviewed his host would ask him what he was doing about the issue of prison rape.

Aside from the fact that a man would have ended up on the sex offender list and gone to jail, society and the courts also seems blind to the reality that shit like this promotes rape. Other women will read about it and log the factoid that women don't go to jail for rape.

Utter bullshit.

We watched in fascination and horror as the father of a child rape victim was told who the rapist was while on camera in front of his home. The interviewer and cameraman followed as he ran through the neighborhood, a crowd of spectators following and passing info on the rapist's location. It ended with a kick circle and the father in the middle, stabbing the rapist.

As satisfying as this was (and terribly horrible also), there was no due process, and the father was charged with assault, as he should be.

Charged with sodomy and abduction of the girl was Charles Dean, 32, a convicted rapist with an arrest record who at the time of the Williams incident was out on bail on another sexual assault charge involving a teen-age girl.

I see no evidence that female sex offenders are any less likely to repeat their actions, nor any good reasons they should be given lighter sentences.

It is not a surprise to anyone here that stories like this definitely make it harder to take feminism seriously on rape issues; their silence gives tacit approval to rape. Period.

Incredible. Why are men jailed for sex with younger people but not women? If we are supposedly living in an era of gender equality than why is this the case? This is the usual sexist shit, that only females can be victims and only males can be perpetrators. Look what the judge said "an unmet need for love and affection", and yet that would also apply to many case of men having sex with young women. Age of consent as many people have pointed out appears to be a way for the feminazi to control male heterosexuality.

This needs to be legal either way. Sex is not evil. The age of consent should be 14 at the maximum.

The double standard is disgusting, but rather than punish the woman, it would be more productive to use this case as a precedent to help thousands of men.
